Back in the day since I remember thinking it was a weird subtitle until I realized it was a play on words so it sounded like "Diddy's conquest".

Years later I saw lots of people online spelling it Diddy Kong's Quest.

Honestly way better name than diddy kongs quest which i always thought sounded incredibly generic

I wish more people knew it was actually Kong Quest lol

I mean I guess just now. But also, I just realized this game exists as well, so there's that. Never heard of it before this topic.

Edit: Oh wait, it's the subtitle for DKC2. Guess I never paid attention to the subtitles. But also, I didn't play the games as a kid. Only on an emulator in my high school years. >_>

By definition, yes, it is a mass mis-remembering of a fact. And as with all instances of the Mandela Effect, it has a mundane explanation. In this case, we were kids and/or not paying that much attention. It's pretty easy to misread "Diddy's Kong Quest" as "Diddy Kong's Quest."
