WingsOfGood posted... Ahn Gwi-ryeong, a spokesperson for the opposition Democratic Party, was seen grabbing a soldiers gun during martial law protests. To be fair military vs cop is an entirely different thing. American military would also be much more restrained and trained than American cops are. Fighting for the heart of the country.. I wonder what that feeling is really like. In America, we have select issues and or concerns that are belonging primarily to country overseas. Theyre certainly worth fighting for.. but I often feel we have a disjointed mess, a luxury even, to just whip up a protest when we want to. It doesnt seem like its a choice there. That soldier mightve even shared that same feeling she felt towards everything. Yeah.. she is incredibly brave. I can say the protestors here in America are brave as well at times. Going against trigger-happy, deranged lunatics clearly bolstered by the feeling of one side. Where pessimism is so high that the temptation to hide under the legality of well, they were doing the thing first and I simply responded is considered a genuine factor. It certainly helps that it's conscriptive service. The military was relatively tame. It's not like a lot of them wanted to be there. It certainly could have been a lot worse. Especially considering they deployed with ammunition available to them, but didn't have it loaded in their rifles. Ultimately, they didn't forget their connection to each other. There's plenty of footage of people wishing them sincere goodbyes when they withdrew because at the end of the day, those are their sons, brothers, and friends. A few years ago the country jailed its president because millions of people protested every day for weeks. You'd never see that happen in the US. Koreans protest hard because it was how they ended the dictatorships and they don't want to go back to that era. They also know that the current conservative parties are all still tied to the dictatorships. Yeah, money is power, but it's not everything. Capitalism is the name of the game, but there are other rules to play by. Economically, yes they have significant influence, but in the social and political sphere they are limited. Government policies and FTC has been increasingly putting them in their place so they can't even do everything they want in the economic side of things either. Shareholders in the international market has them cucked and the court of public opinion dictates their livelihood in the domestic one as well. Not to mention there's the actual court as they're not untouchable and you have plenty of indictment/prosecution cases.
