Had to look up the story and I guess the baby's grandma called the cops because the mom was being violent. She was hoping to get her help as she was suffering from post partum depression.
Cops show up, she had a knife and cops shot. Investigation ongoing.

This seems like the perfect time to have a social worker or someone ACTUALLY TRAINED to handle mentally distraught people to respond with the police. Rather than cops storming in and making the situation 10000x worse.

Fun fact about the place this happened at, I used to live in these apartments 2 apartments ago. Moved away because they kicked me out, which I was wanting out anyways lol.

And it is definitely sickening that this happened. What's worse, is that when you go on the Independence PD Facebook page, you see tons of sycophants praising the cop who did this, giving him all their thoughts and such. A baby was killed by a cop, and all these people can say is "oops, oh well, BLUE LIVES MATTER!". That's why I believe that as disgusting as cops are who do this shit, the people who STILL stand by them after the fact are even more disgusting. Because how the hell can anyone stand by a cop who killed a 2 month old? Sick people, that's who.

Makes me fucking sick.

Of course not. But to be fair, Independence is pretty fucked up with their money anyways. At the end of this year, they will be getting rid of the 6 buses running throughout the city, because "budget reasons" (truth is, they've been trying to get rid of the buses for the last 15 years). Yet they have no problems spending that money on building a new police station, and moving the utilities company to a location that no one could get to, even with the buses intact. Oh and to revitalize the Square (downtown Independence) for the millionth time. That's kinda why I can't wait to get out of this town.

According to the article, there was a mental help therapist en route, and the police chose not to wait for them.

Oh I don't doubt they could have made up that she had a knife. Body cam won't lie though (assuming anyone other than the cops ever get to see it)

Bodycam footage will show that she DID have a knife...

Or..

The camera's will "unbelievably" have been not working at that particular moment.

I'd love to know why they felt the need to get into that room when the altercation between the woman and her mother-in-law was already over and there was a therapist on the way. I don't see anything about the mother-in-law saying the baby was in danger, and it was actually the father who didn't wanna let police in.
