After the co-anchors of MSNBCs Morning Joe announced Monday that they had met with president-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago the previous Friday as part of what they dubbed a new approach for covering him, many viewers of the program turned their focus elsewhere, according to Nielsen data. The numbers, obtained by Mediaite, show that after Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski broke the news shortly after 6 a.m., 38 percent of those in the 25-54 demographic had stopped watching by the next hour.

The anchors' decision to see Trump was widely criticized. The show has since turned off comments on their posts on X, and hasnt posted clips of the show either Monday or Tuesday. Trump will still bash them and their ratings will continue to go down.

There is no major outlet willing to treat Trump and his extremism with the sort of adversarial nature that Fox treats the most milquetoast of Democrats.

This topic reminded me of a thought I had the other day, which was that a potential way to mitigate damage from Trump's 2nd term is for the media to capitulate to Trump himself and instead focus all of their inquiries on his cabinet; call them out on every little thing they do, drum up public disdain for them, not him. If Trump feels placated and not personally embattled, he could be manipulated into spinning the revolving door even faster than his first term if he feels his appointees are making him look bad.

Admittedly a hairbrained idea that absolutely no one in the media would go for even if it was a good one, considering that Trump himself is the easiest of low-hanging fruit for media scrutiny. But I felt compelled to type it out nonetheless.

The audacity to even call themselves journalists still. If they really wanted to keep even a sliver of integrity, then it should've been recorded. But we all know they just went to cover their asses anyway.

Utterly delusional. Trump's going to see this as a sign of weakness and get the message that bashing them gets them to give him concessions so he'll double down to get even more concessions.

They deserve everything they're going to get.

People who watch Fox news are not movIng to CNN or MSNBC if they become Fox. But the audience they already have will leave if (when) they make that shift.

But you know since Trump is threatening to go after all "fake.media" they are falling in line out of fear.

Anyone else feel the Morning Joe couple has a really stereotypical vibe to them? Like the rich, douchey, bitchy, bad guy characters you see in Hollywood movies. Idk why but I get that vibe from them way more than any other mainstream news hosts.
