They called the election in the state for Trump with only around 25% of the vote in. When I first saw it, he only had about 10k more votes. How odes this work exactly?

It's the AP calling the state based on polling data and statistical projections. But I don't know how accurate that is and it feels dishonest or misleading at best.

Look at different news outlets and you'll see slightly different electoral maps because some are not confident in the projection and are waiting for a higher ballot count to make the determination.

As an example, AP shows Harris at 99 and Trump at 198, but CNN and Reuters show Harris at 81 and Trump at 172.

Some states are just known, especially if the first set of reported data matches or exceeds established precedence.

If the real voting map looks like the one I just saw, I feel so bad for your country. Jesus Christ, Trump should have 0 votes. Even if he was going up against Satan, at least I could say "at least it'll be warm".

Yeah, just because a state is called by AP, it doesnt mean it will 100% go to the predicted winner, it probably will, but best to keep an eye on the % reporting to judge it better.

Election results we get tonight are based on predictions. We won't know the official counts til much later.

I mean, you do you, but right now your country is playing tug of war, and it has been since the 80s. Whatever party is in power gets kicked out after 1-2 terms in favour of the other. If Trump wins this time, expect a democrat to win next time... if there is a next time.
