I think I have so many games at this point that I just have no desire to ever spend full price for a single player game again. It would have to be something that is gonna be short ordered in physical form, MAYBE a big collection (like if Breath of Fire got a collection)... but otherwise? Most games are gonna have a sale within 6 months. I have too many games I will never beat as is.

I'd say games in general but I will buy multiplayer games Day 1 if my friends are playing it. Monster Hunter Wilds is gonna be Day 1 for us all.

I don't imagine myself buying any online games moving forward. Last "online" game as I see it that I played was FF14, and I just don't see myself ever going back to it.

Game prices fall so fast these days and with the way modern game making has become I like to give them a little bit to work out a few patches and what not for most games. Very few developers have a proper experience ready on day 1 these days.

And depending on genre, like a WRPG game like Dragon Age, Witcher, or Elder Scrolls I always wait like a year or two until all DLC and any planned expansion is out and I end up picking up a GOTY edition for a heavy discount.

I'm personally not bothered by the price. I just end up liking to wait a little. With that being said I know I'll be buying Farming Simulator 25 day 1 in November and next year I will absolutely 100% be buying GTA VI day 1.

But yeah for the most part I usually wait a little bit. Outside of my farming games I think the last game I bought day 1 was RDR2 in 2018. Most everything else I pick up later. But there will still definitely be titles that are absolute day 1's to me. There is just a lot less of them now. I used to buy every single game day 1. Now I'm just used to hanging back a little.

honestly I'm at the point where I'm gonna hold off for something like steam summer sale, and get all my games for the year in one go.
limit my budget to the cost of 2-3 full price games, and go wild.

I used to be part of cheap video game deal coupons and hunting ads and eBay.

I got all the deals, awesome games for 5 bucks.

But soon my collection was so large... I didn't even open the games.

The difference between school with free time, and a career and money and dating, with little free time.

Now I limit myself to the best of the best multiplayer games at full price. Because getting in on the ground floor on multiplayer is worth it And a few day 1 single player games that I swear to myself I will play within the week, and not just collect.

i'll only pay full price when its for a game that REALLY interests me.

like Astro Boy for instance: i paid full price for it and 100%'ed that bitch in 2 weeks but you know what? it was well worth every single dime i spent! lol

Yeah, I'm almost the same way now but for me it's more everything is so expensive that I would rather wait and be able to afford other stuff. Then so many games are released broken now that I'd rather wait until everything is fixed and if there is going to be story DLC I'd rather wait until everything is out. New entries in favorite series I'll get right away but I'll try to limit that as much as I can.

Im buying Metaphor day 1. That will last a long time.

Even when I buy games day 1 I never pay full retail price. I've already found a place where I can get Metaphor at 20% under retail price day one.

last time i paid full price was Mass Effect Andromeda i loved it but i wait for huge price drops now 20 or less

Up to about that here in Australia too. Screw it, I got a few hundred games in my library to work through. Those games will be on sale by the time I put a dent in the backlog.
