South Dakota has the 2nd highest percentage of virgins in the States, at 18.18%

I still have it at 31, so I'm almost double the average. I'm ambivalent to the concept of relationships and sex. It bears no significant importance to me as a person. I was 21. I had done pretty much everything EXCEPT vaginal intercourse as early as age 17, but I broke up with my freshman year girlfriend before doing that, then didn't have another girlfriend until my senior year of college. I probably had a few opportunities in between, but I was too dense to pick up on the clues.

I was under average. I started fooling around in 9th grade. It was mostly 3rd base stuff until the end of the year like last day of school before we actually made it to penetration. Her grandmother left us in the house alone because she had to rush to pick up the younger kids from school that she forgot about. It was a failed attempt though. As soon as I entered (0 thrusting other then the initial entering), she said it hurt too bad and started crying because it reminded her of when she was molested by her step-dad. I felt so awful and said we never had to do that again.

There was another session that I feel doesn't really count. It was 10th grade year when I worked at the movies. I was alone with a coworker who wanted to fool around with me in the back of one of the auditoriums (like the room underneath the screen). We did a quick insertion but no real thrusting since we were on the clock and it was very risky. Stopped just in time for my friend/coworker to catch us fixing her clothes. He saw me tucking her shirt in. I just remember not realizing he was there while I was fixing her shirt and then looking over to see him with a :O face.

Wasn't until senior year of high school where I had a normal session with a different girl though. It was her first time completely and my first "real" time. I had amazing chemistry with this girl and we dated for 2 years. Took me years to get over here completely after we broke up. It messed me up to the point I completely lost my confidence and couldn't even ask out a really cute girl my first year of college who was extremely into me and flirted with me all the time. She would text me all the time and basically drop obvious hints that I should ask her out. She finally moved on right as I regained my confidence (and also went to a university as this was a community college so I wasn't really around anymore).

Is average really a good stat for something like this. Average means people higher balance out those that are lower. So for someone to lose virginity at 30 years old . I am not going to think about what has to be lower to balance it out to give you 17.

I think most kids from my period lost it by 16. Well, at least the "cool" kids.

In the interval between her asking and the actual prom, she started making all sorts of pointed comments about having sex afterwards. There was something weird about her and now looking back, I wonder if she had been molested or assaulted or something at a young age. She seemed to be acting out in an unhealthy way.

Either way I didn't go through with it because it such an anti-turn on

I know you served in the military and are generally socially aware so I'm actually surprised by that.
I never looked up the statistics for Vermonters but that isn't a surprise at all and explains a whole lot hahaha. Back then I thought the internet was just a lot more sheltered and prude because of introverts but Vermonters being the friskiest in the nation probably also colored my impressions. If I'm not mistaken Vermont is also one of the most secular states.

Kids hit puberty before then and usually know about sex. Seems like it's not too hard to figure out why it happens. I knew about sex before puberty. I only didn't get paid sooner because I have zero game.

I just realized the sample population was high schoolers. It wasn't a general public poll. High schoolers tend to be in the age of 14-18 so makes sense for it to fall in that range. But doesnt really account for the 30-40 y/o virgins out there.

Yeah and it gets even dumber. I've seen teens argue about what counts as sex. Like I've heard the argument that using a condom doesn't count because technically there was something between you and them. Been told gay sex didn't count. Which basically came as a defense because I had my friends beat outside body count because my bf lived with my family when I was a teen so I had daily access.

25 (nearly 33 now), though I got to third base a few times in the years prior. Never really wanted to commit to full on sex with the wrong person. Now I wouldn't say the girl I lost it to was the right person but I guess I don't regret it. Not friends with her anymore though.

I remember when I was like 13, my buddy who was also 13 told me he had sex with his gf, also the same age. I was shocked. I mean sex was beginning to be a topic at that point, like I wasn't unaware of it by any means. But even at that time I knew that was young to be having sex.
