The US and EU are building semiconductor factories for this exact reason.

In 5 years we could literally end up at a place where the US is working with China to take over Taiwan to disrupt TSMC, so our own factories can take the market share.

I don't think this reply contradicts the idea that an attack on Taiwan could cause World War 3 though.

Taiwan is tactically important enough at the moment and will be for many years that it absolutely could cause that. And if it still has enough market share that that matters then it's STILL that important even if other countries start to catch up

It would turn it from the most important island on Earth to an eastern version of Israel. Still important, but far from world war worthy.

I think you're looking at way longer than 5 years for it to become just another supplier of semiconductors. Startup time on the infrastructure takes a long time.

Basically if you're humoring the idea that US helps China attack it to take more market share it's still a big deal.

The solace here is is that she's so consistently shitting the bed over the last month that it may be helping Harris.

Jill Stein is absolutely a grifter, but if you watch it, that specific statement, is actually pretty reasonable.

The way she's speaking and choosing her words carefully like that, I think she supports the convictions and was just being nice to the host.

thing about taiwan also is that japan has explicitly said they'd consider it an act of war and would immediately rev up a military, as per the treaty after WW2. the koreas would also likely get involved shortly after, split between Japan/Korea/Taiwan and China/North Korea. wouldn't take much to get other Asian countries (see: any country within the seven seas, Vietnam) or Australia either. basically you need economic and militaristic power alongside global relevance and unfortunately China/Taiwan/Japan alone accomplishes this threshold. soon as the Koreas come in that's it.

now there'll come a time when Taiwan won't be as relevant yeah. but still a good decade from that so it ends up just being a case where China can start a world war and... that's it.

Trump won it in 2016, effectively tied in 2020.

Trump campaign seems to be primarily campaigning in friendly areas nowadays, while a lot of the Harris and Walz stops are trending to appeal in mixed but primarily Republican counties. Kizinger and Liz Cheney also officially launched a big campaign in Wisconsin.

Good. Hopefully we stay all blue for a very long time here.

The pretending part is more-so pretending she doesn't understand the criticism - she does understand the criticism because she was making those exact same points against Republicans months prior

I don't think most people use WW3 specifically because it's scarier, actually. I think most use it casually because to describe unnamed wars involving multiple parties. When you assume another country is going to get involved, and that their allies might get involved "World War", it's not so nefarious as you imply.

If that's the case then we're on like World War 752 and I'm probably way undershooting it

I'm assuming they're seeing the actual text links, but if it's just failing to load that's an issue with Twitter loading for you. That's not because of GameFAQs at all.

And Twitter loading issues happen all the time since Musk gutted the company.

The x embeds work for me, though they do take a few seconds after I click the link.

Steins answer to the actual question is fairly reasonable but she knows what she is doing when she says that it was blown up for political reasons. However I am more disturbed by the questions comparison with the length the Nazi sentences, which ignores how many more people were sentenced on Jan 6 so of course the combined sentence will be longer, and that many of those Nazis were sentenced to death. Thats just an insane comparison to make.

The reason the world didn't take more Nazis to court is that they were already dead or missing
