Started playing Mini & Max today, and basically didn't stop until I beat it. Lived up to the hype.

Now the real game: trying to figure out how to convince all my friends to play Mini & Max

I got the Cherry in Quibble Race on my first win. I look forward to never, ever playing it again.

I was so tired when I started Mini & Max day I've lost all track of what I was doing. May just start over.

A quest tracker would be nice for mini & max, or better yet, something more vague like Outer Wilds' connected graph screen that automatically updates.

BUT on the other hand, the whole "I can't quit now, I'll forget all the things I'm working on" made the game really addictive, which is generally a positive trait!

Yeah, to be clear I didn't make it all that far. But also I somehow didn't get what the power-ups were so I skipped nearly all I saw. I was really tired.

OK, spent a couple more hours and got the Cherry too, for Mini & Max! Coulda been faster if I thought about it harder, I was enjoying it too much so I refused to check a guide.

In UFO 50 in general for some reason, I've been refusing to look at guides, even though I'm usually the first person to do so, when stuck in a game! Not sure if I'm just because I'm enjoying it so much, or the puzzles are a good level of fairness.

Admittedly I'm still missing two upgrades in Mini & Max, and I'm out of ideas for where to look... if anyone wants to give me slight hints, feel free: I have the upgrade in the rightmost slot, but not the two before it.

Cherries: Camouflage, Pingolf, Golfaria, Barbuta, The Big Bell Race, Vainger, Mini & Max

Gold only: Mooncat, Ninpek, Party House, Waldorf's Journey, Magic Garden, Attactics, Campanella, Paint Chase, Caramel Caramel, Hot Foot, Pilot Quest

Current progress
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/b/bb898f4f.jpg

I was on the boss of Devilition and misclicked, whoops. Getting close I think on Kick Club, I've made it to 4-8 or 4-9. Haven't revisited Mooncat to get the cherry. Golfaria I am at like 97% and have no interest in systematically covering the entire map again to find the three clubs I missed. Two levels left on Rock On Island. I'll probably get gold on Seaside Drive next. Don't think I'll ever accomplish the cherry on Cyber Owls, the levels with Guin are way too easy to fuck up on for that.

Haven't kept up with my updates on games and thoughts but still getting cherries and golds, my 26th cherry being Campanella. Rock on, Island and Waldorf's Journey were also recent cherries.

Of the remaining ones that are neither gold nor cherry... is it just me or is the killer completely frightening in Night Manor? It shouldn't be so difficult for me to do, like adventure game logic is simple enough, but I just hate him showing up whenever he wants.

Valbrace, I'm about halfway done I think, and Mooncat, I should have realized it didn't save and continued my play when I started it, getting a third of the way through and thinking about going through the early stages again doesn't sound fun.

Ninpek, Caramel Caramel, Onion Delivery, Pingolf, and Rakshaka are my "skill issue" games.
Avianos, Elfazar's Hat, Campanella 3, Quibble Race, Grimstone, and Star Waspir are my remaining "barely played" games.

Those eagles are by far the worst.

Had a cherry-level score run that didn't beat the final boss and a not-cherry score run which did. So it's gold, but could clearly possibly cherry. It's actually quite a fun game once you get it down, but birds are jerkfaces.

As someone who grew up with Adventures of Lolo, something like Block Koala was actually my cup of tea. I'd still have easily cut 10 puzzles from it for 10 more from Chameleon tho. But by the end Block Koala was a good time in my eyes.

Oh ok sorry nevermind, Block Koala got waaaaaay easier after like level 15ish. The black cubes were the hard aspect, but they stopped including them in the puzzles after that. Level 8 was particularly difficult, I think it took me 45 mins alone, longer than the final level.

But everything after 15ish was pretty smooth for me. There were even 1 or 2 puzzles towards the end I definitely cheesed, and didn't touch half the map.

Anyway, got gold and cherry for Block Koala! 6 hours and 3 minutes.

...Which means, ew, that's the 2nd-most I've played a game in the pack, and I didn't even really enjoy it that much. I did enjoy it, but a lot less than anything else in the pack.

I woulda skipped puzzles (like #8) (I don't care to cherry every game), but they don't tell you the difficulty of each level, so by the time I'd realize one was difficult, I didn't wanna back out and lose all my knowledge.

So yeah, definitely woulda cut 10 puzzles from this, adding 10 to Camouflage, which was only an hour long for me! Great idea.

OH the frog puzzles were all very fun though, absolutely enjoyed those.

Onion Delivery was my second one. My friends picked Quibble Race first and I got that one second try.

Onion Delivery I mainly needed the first day to be a 9 Onion, get an 8 Onion on either the sewer day or the storm day, no overtime the cops vs. robbers one, and 7 Onion the rest and even then, I needed some help from RNG to get me the right delivery locations.

A third person just picked for me. It ended up being #31: Pingolf. I'm assuming the Cherry for this one is to finish under par.

Lol at the cherry requirement, didn't see any of that. I think I'll pass!

BUT I think it's definitely a game I'd like to re-play in a couple years or so.

Friend #5 picked Mortol II. I have never seen anything like this before and it took quite a bit of planning to get the Cherry for that one.

Friend #6 chose Campanella 2. That game is super hard because of the lack of lives or continues. I did get the Cherry but that was also the only run where I actually managed to finish the game.

Friend #7 ended up choosing Divers but it was already Cherry'd so his second pick ended up being Pingolf, which was also already done. On the third try, they just threw out #40 which is Grimstone.

Tried out Bushido Ball, and beat it! Super fun!! I love a hard game with infinite continues. The gameplay reminds me a lot of one of my favorite games ever, Wii Sports Resort Table Tennis. I think this is even better though. (Obviously it reminds me of a lot of other games too, but especially WSRTT, for some reason.)

(OK time to read the cherry requirement... Hahahahahha yeah right.)

I've also started daily Kick Club attempts. The first time I played it I reached 4-9, but ever since, I've never made it past like 3-3. Actually, I'm getting worse every day pretty much, kinda depressing.

Cherries (8): Camouflage, Pingolf, Golfaria, Barbuta, The Big Bell Race, Vainger, Mini & Max, Block Koala

Gold only (13): Mooncat, Ninpek, Party House, Waldorf's Journey, Magic Garden, Attactics, Campanella, Paint Chase, Caramel Caramel, Hot Foot, Pilot Quest, Warptank, Bushido Ball

Cherries (11): Campanella, Porgy, Onion Delivery, Divers, Vainger, Pingolf, Mortol II, Campanella 2, Grimstone, Night Manor, Quibble Race.

Grimstone was very... Long. Might have enjoyed it more if I picked a different party but really the encounter rate is too high. The Cherry for this game is basically free, or at least it was because I took the Dancer in my party and evasion buffs stack infinitely.

8th person I asked picked #42 which ended up being Night Manor. Not into horror and jumpscares. At least it was short.

Asked Divers guy to pick another number. He chose #22 which was Porgy. The early game is rough but at least you have infinite lives. The powerups are surprisingly restrictive for a Metroidvania. Didn't cherry this on the first clear because it turned out I forgot an optional boss. Smoked him with all upgrades, then re-killed the final boss for the cherry.

Asked another person to pick a number, he chose #17 which was Campanella. Radically different game from it's sequel. As soon as I saw the stage clear screen, I deduced what the cherry requirement was going to be and started going for it after my first Game Over. Ended up being correct. A side note about this friend, he knew it was for UFO 50 but didn't know which number was which game.

Lastly, a guy I've known for several years chose #29 which ended up being Vainger. My first thought was "uh-oh" when I saw the gravity flip mechanic from Metal Storm (this is because Metal Storm is very, very hard), then it turned out the game was Metroid. Cherry was straightforward but the last health upgrade being in Tourian was cruel.

So I guess this is the point where I can start ranking the games on my own enjoyment.
Quibble Race > Vainger > Mortol II > Pingolf > Onion Delivery > Campanella > Porgy > Campanella 2 > Grimstone > Divers > Night Manor (I know this game is Top 5 for the overwhelming majority)

OMG just had the greatest run in Seaside Drive, which I hadn't beaten yet. I didn't get hit a single time in stages 1, 2, and 3!!! So I was walking into the final stage with like, what, 9 lives or something. I was unbeatable. Got the cherry, and I don't even know what the requirements were.

That cheered me the heck up after days of miserable Kick Club failures (with some Raksasha failures mixed in). UFO 50 gives me some very exciting high highs, next to some low lows.

Cherries (9): Camouflage, Pingolf, Golfaria, Barbuta, The Big Bell Race, Vainger, Mini & Max, Block Koala, Seaside Drive

Gold only (14): Mooncat, Ninpek, Party House, Waldorf's Journey, Magic Garden, Attactics, Campanella, Paint Chase, Caramel Caramel, Hot Foot, Pilot Quest, Warptank, Bushido Ball, Mortol

Calling off the "pick a number" thing now that duplicate answers are becoming too frequent. Now I'll be tackling the games in whatever order I wish.

Cherries (18): Barbuta, Mortol, Velgress, Kabuki Ball, Campanella, Porgy, Onion Delivery, Party House, Divers, Vainger, Pingolf, Mortol II, Campanella 2, Valbrace, Grimstone, Night Manor, Combatants, Quibble Race

After Vainger, Valbrace was picked for me. It turned out that the requirement for cherry doubled as a way for me to completely cheese the combat, trivializing the entire game... As long as you know what you actually have to do for the cherry.

After Valbrace, Velgress was picked for me. That game was pure hell to cherry and I only got it because I fluked a good layout in my cherry run, which was necessary because my shop luck was horrible.

After Velgress came my second-to-last picked game: Combatants. This game is... Awful and it's mainly because of the non-functional friendly AI. Certain maps came down to just whether or not I could get the hostile neutral unit to cooperate.

And last but not least, my final "picked" game was Party House. S-tier game, cherry is slightly luck based.

This was when I started going after games on my own and I quickly started with Kabuki Ball. There was one specific CPU I could not beat so my best option was to play AS that character to prevent the AI from getting it. Cherry'd the game on my first try as that character.

Then I had to try Mortol because Mortol II was good. The game is deceptively puzzle-y as trying to figure out the best way to end stages with a net gain in lives had me sitting for minutes racking my brain. Barely got the Cherry once I figured out how to fight the final boss.

Lastly, Barbuta to see what was causing so many people to refund UFO 50. The game is basically if La Mulana was made in 1982. Once you've gone through the game, you can cherry it in less than ten minutes (My Cherry time is 6:29 for context). This is a horrible game to pick as your first one. Wait until like your 10th or so game to really appreciate this, like I did.

I'm now on a quest to cherry all 50 games.

Cherries as of Last Post (18): Barbuta, Mortol, Velgress, Bushido Ball, Campanella, Porgy, Onion Delivery, Party House, Divers, Vainger, Pingolf, Mortol II, Campanella 2, Valbrace, Grimstone, Night Manor, Combatants, Quibble Race

Cherries Now (27): Barbuta, Bug Hunter, Ninpek, Paint Chase, Magic Garden, Mortol, Velgress, Planet Zoldath, Attactics, Devilition, Kick Club, Avianos, Bushido Ball, Campanella, Porgy, Onion Delivery, Party House, Divers, Vainger, Pingolf, Mortol II, Campanella 2, Valbrace, Grimstone, Night Manor, Combatants, Quibble Race

Bug Hunter: Just figuring out how to even win was the big hurdle. Once you get going, cherry is just a matter of time. My only advice: Prioritize orange bugs. You really do not want the invincibility bugs to be in play, no matter how good your build is.

Ninpek: Not that hard but I also cheesed the boss by dying on purpose and using ghost beams to kill it.

Paint Chase: Hard. Hard cherry. And I didn't even like this game. For what it's worth, my cherry run had no perfect stages whatsoever.

Magic Garden: On the contrary, I had the cherry for this game from cartridge dust off to cherry in thirty minutes. Once I noticed that I could have more than one potion on the board at once and leaving them alone "evolved" them, the game ended up being a cakewalk to cherry.

Planet Zoldath: I used to race randomizers competitively so this game was pretty much "home turf" for me. Still needed to learn the mechanics like why certain monsters were not attacking me and how to move a snail, but once I figured them out, it became one of those games where I cherried it before learning the requirement to do so.

Attactics: This game is awesome. Cherry was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be since losing a ranked match doesn't penalize you that much.

Devilition: As punishment for the previous three cherries, this game took an entire day of attempts to even gold cart this. It turns out I really, really suck at this kind of game. My second clear was the cherry due to not knowing that remaining placements count towards points and not just townies alive because my first clear had no plants left. Is the game even good? It is if hitting "the button" makes the brain neurons fire but mine didn't.

Kick Club: Like Velgress, the real difficulty comes from just finishing the game. The difficulty is severely backloaded. The only way I was able to get past 4-1, 4-8, and 4-9 was to do the first three worlds deathless. Met the cherry requirement a few levels to spare multiple times only to Game Over in the last levels multiple times.

Avianos: This game is not for everyone. I however, loved this game, even if I ended up fluking the cherry due to an absolutely godly map + randomized ancestor layout. Might actually come back to this one post-cherry.

On top of this, any color you don't ever let survive in the baby phase will never get to spawn pre-evolved, unless (I think) you actually manage to kill all of them in round 1 then it'll pick one at random. So ideally you only have to deal with one problem per match.

Finally got the Campanella 2 Cherry!

For those of you not aware, if you're going for this and it sends you to Vaalpolis, do NOT use the key door there. It just straight warps you to the Gold final boss. I was mad. Technically a worse ending too because you don't free Pilot, but it's still a Gold.

I suck so bad at The Rink I've never gotten past it. I have no idea what the 3rd area on the right is even like. Debating if I'll play more just to see it.

I rolled Vaalpolis so many times, probably like 15 in a row at least, that I thought it couldn't even send you to Gut. In the end I won the second time it actually did. Way easier than Vaalpolis, really good for the fuel kill upgrade, and the key door gives you free armor.

The quest for all 50 cherries continues.

Pilot Quest: I was warned about this game so I decided to make it a priority. Cherrying it without New Game+ required an absolutely stupid grind (Zoldnaks to buy energy from a dungeon merchant. Lots of energy) but at least now I don't have to touch this game again.

Mooncat: Of all the games that could be in this, I was not expecting a "Video Games are Art" Platformer. Give it a few playthroughs and try stuff, it'll come naturally.

Block Koala: Long game compared to others. About halfway through I muted the BGM and started listening to Adventures of Lolo 3's puzzle theme instead.

Camouflage: From the very first stage, you'll know what the cherry is. Since you have infinite lives, it's also an easy cherry.

Golfaria: ...What the hell is this? Why does it get good after you get the brakes? Mosquitos can just die though.

The Big Bell Race: This was more about having a good racing line than using the powerups. Got it second try.

Warptank: Another long one. Didn't help that I needed two playthroughs to do it. The real trouble was simply finding the stages. I would have preferred no overworld at all really.

Waldorf's Journey: Missing the cherry by 1 really sucked but nothing another playthrough couldn't fix.

Caramel Caramel: That shmup phase I went through as a teenager really paid off here. I'm aware that this is a hard one to even gold so having past experience helped a lot. The cherry run made it to the true final boss in one life so I knocked out the high score on the same run. Go me.

Hot Foot: This could have taken a LOT longer but the game showed pity on me by giving me almost perfect RNG. Bea and July team. Amy and Mascot in the first two rounds. Edgar as the undrafted person.

Rail Heist: This on the other hand did take a while because I decided to go for all sixty stars. You only need forty apparently so I was a bit confused when I saw the cherry pop up with only 58 stars.

Rock On! Island: As soon as I discovered two things, it was all over. 1. Chickens cook immediately if next to at least two campfires, and 2. Bows can shoot through trees.

If a game isn't listed, it's because I already cherried it from that previous experiment. Now at 39, if I were to go in order, my next game would be Fist Hell.

Remaining Cherries: Fist Hell, Overbold, Hyper Contender, Rakshasa, Star Waspir, Lords of Diskonia, Elfazars Hat, Mini and Max, Seaside Drive, Campanella 3, Cyber Owls

Fist Hell: This game sucks. Getting the cherry meant having to use the exploits that come from 80s jank. Examples would be standing below an enemy so that you can hit them and they can't hit back because hitbox, or pausing before the end of a combo so you can start a new one and do infinites. Used Jay to do the cherry but Victor was used to get the gift. It really doesn't matter as long as you use one of those two characters.

Overbold: This on the other hand, is cool. It keeps you thinking "Maybe I can handle more?" But your penalty for being too greedy is starting over. It wasn't until I toned it down on round 2 that I could start getting actual attempts going. Strategy used: Rush the dash thing because it makes you invulnerable and one-hit kills anything you collide with. After that, max out your health and medkits, then spend the leftovers on a lure bomb build. Ignored gun upgrades as they didn't do enough to be worth it in previous attempts. Need to be able to reliably do a 400 dollar fight in round 2 in order to pull this off.

Hyper Contender: Thought I could use continues as much as I wanted. Not exactly, there's a limitation. Characters used: Elka, Brazz, Voltana, Donkus

Remaining Cherries: Rakshasa, Star Waspir, Lords of Diskonia, Elfazar's Hat, Mini and Max, Seaside Drive, Campanella 3, Cyber Owls

You might be the first person Ive seen to NOT use Sephy in Hyper Contender. She seems pretty plainly better than the rest of the roster

My line of thinking was "Pick the characters I have to use a continue against." Brazz ended up being a 100% hard counter to Yogo so gave up on Yogo. Donkus' melee was super annoying so I tried actually using her and smoked the first seven fights (you know the one I had an issue with).
