Sony was potentially planning on switching to Intel, but the business agreement fell through so now Intel misses out on potentially $30 Billion in revenue.

I had an idea that one of big console makers would potentially switch to Intel with the interesting technologies they've been making but it seems there struggles recently might have messed up their chances at that opportunity

Title is overstated IMO. Intel was considered as a bidding competitor, but among other issues the PS6 would've been unlikely to have backward compatibility and probably wouldn't even be cheaper than AMD. Basically Sony entertained the possibility but continued working with what works, AMD.

PS6 wouldve been $1200 then.
