Other: No; indifferent

I didn't love, want, or hate it. I gamed on the N64 and PC at the time, and Sega just wasn't something I followed.

No, but your options suck. I didn't want it or hate it, I was just apathetic about it during a generation where the PS2 and XBox both existed and had far more games I actually wanted to play.

Also, 9/9/1999 was the release date for Final Fantasy VIII, because they played up the 9/9/99 deal (the same way they put FFVII out on 9/7/97), and that was the only thing I was interested in at the time (though in retrospect, I shouldn't have been).

I'd still be playing mine if it wasn't reseting all the time

I've had the urge to play the original Sonic Adventure for a while now

my brother had one but I never really played it (maybe tried for a few mins). I remember it was really weird how the cable came out the front of the controller.

Yes but I bought it from gamestop like 8 years after release. I sold it back to gamestop and I am unsure why I did any of this. I remember having one game, Virtua Soccer. That's about it

wtf your gamestop still took Dreamcast stuff? Ours put everything in discount bin in late 2002. By 2004 there wasn't a drop left in our area store nor did they take anything Sega related in but they had alot of assholes working there the 20 years it lasted.

I bought one off eBay after it was discontinued, and I honestly loved the system apart from the bulky controller that felt even more uncomfortable than the N64.

Soul Calibur was absolute peak. Looked and played so much better than the arcade version.
I honestly liked Grandia 2 more than the first, I found Ryudo far superior to Justin and the soundtrack is still a part of my Playlist.
Skies of Arcadia was an absolute gem, and I think I replayed it at least twice more.
Shenmue was unlike anything I ever played at rhe time, and I loved feeling like I was actually stepping into Ryo's life. Shame I never played 2 or 3.
I also really liked Phantasy Star Online, but wished it was more like 4 or the 1st one.

Honorable mentions are Marvel vs Capcom 2, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, and Dead or Alive 2.

Still the same generation. Still knew the other two (plus the "Dolphin") were coming while the Dreamcast was on shelves.

The point is more that, when you're planning ahead which consoles you're going to want to own in any new generation, odds are you're not going to pick the one that seems like it's 4th out of 4 (not counting all the other smaller, weirder, niche consoles and gimmicks).

Though to be fair, I didn't buy the XBox at launch anyway. I didn't buy it until Halo 2 came out (about 3 years later). For most of that time the PS2 was more than sufficient for all my gaming needs.

Also to be fair, the Dreamcast was really only on shelves in North America for about a year and a half. If you were a slower adopter, by the time you even knew it existed and might be something you'd be interested in, it was already dead. So that almost certainly discouraged a lot of people as well.

I wasn't really aware of it when it was current but I did buy one around 2012. The main reason I wanted one at the time was the dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure. I've since built up a pretty decent collection of games, and of course I have the fishing rod controller.

That was when/how I got mine. It was like $20 used in the bargain bin and I got a bunch of games for like $3 each. I got the entire 2K library on Dreamcast (NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB 2K - 2K2) for like $5. Still own it, but it is just sitting there connected to my CRT. Haven't touched it since I moved into my house.

To be honest, the biggest take-away I got was that the console just felt cheap. Like it had almost no weight and the buttons on the controller tore-up your thumbs after just a few minutes.

'Yes love(d) it'

My second favorite console of all time. It arguably contains a majority of Capcom's 'golden' age.

Never did. Do have a PS2 and a GameCube, neither of which came in during its era, but years later.

Didn't word that very well. They came to me years after they came out is what I meant, PS2 around the time the PS3 came out in the USA (Europe did not get the first generation and was about half a year later), the GameCube I got second hand from a co-worker as late as 2008.
