That's an ice-cold take.

I like standard message boards. They treat every response equally (though with pages everything before the newest page is likely forgotten) as opposed to Reddit's mob rule. And without breaking topics into separate pages, Discord is too much with servers of even decent size.

CE was the best forum style, definitely better than reddit, but discord is just a flat out better means of communication. I don't engage much with forums at all over discord servers now

agree. i probably would've done better in the CE discord had i stayed out of #politics, though.

They are fine as mediums. I think that social media should stay separated from each other. You should be able to go to other places without seeing the same people constantly.

Reddit is fine it you have a very specific subreddit.

As soon as topic widens, the mob mentality gets simply too bad and moves the discussion at it's will, and less popular posts and topics just vanish.

Sorry, but even with the thread function, it's just bullshit to compare it to a message board.

It's active when it's active, so I have no way to stay in touch since most of you are active during US hours, and I'm in EU.

Try reading some discussion with 50 postings over 12 hours on discord. It's impossible.

The ce discords are just chat mostly. One of them has forums but theyre not used.

They definitely ain't good substitute for gaming communities and it's silly so many people think they are.

I don't mind Discord.

Don't like the format of Reddit at all.

Before Fandom started doing their thing here I would've agreed. But lately I've been spending more time on a handful of subreddits than here.

Discord is basically just a modern version of 90s chat rooms.

Reddit is fine if you stick to the niche subs. Just an example instead of going to r/nba. You got to your favorite teams individual sub. The big ones tend to have people upvote farming. So they try to make witty jokes or something completely off topic to get upvoted instead of actually discussing a thread.

GameFAQs baseball board didnt even have a thread for Ohtani getting to 40/40 which was major news in the sport. I had to come to CE to make a thread on it.

Compared to ce I been posting more on reddit lately. Post less on discord tho

Neither will replace Ce in comfiness tho.

This. People are trying to fit a circle Discord peg in a square message board hole. There's no need to read everything you missed in the last 10 hours. Just jump into a current conversation and add to it. If chat is dead then start the conversation yourself.

The thread feature on Discord isn't great I will admit. Doesn't have the same feel as message boards. Both of the CE discords tried using threads and only a handful of people use them.

CE has a Politics flair meant to give you the option to filter out political topics but barely anyone uses it so it useless.

Slow Discord can be a fine enough forum replacement, but it basically becomes unusable as anything but a jump in and out of chat room on larger ones.

Reddit's comment section is not made for actual discussion, so it's only for commenting on topical things related to a niche topic and getting fake points for witty comments.

I've tried and failed a few times to start posting regularly on Reddit. Never used Discord.

Reddit definitely not, and while discord is decent, it doesn't have the same charm in formatting. I even put in a forum style area on my server but people barely use it.
