The Xbox Store version linked in that tweet shows that it's playable on both console and PC, but I don't see it in the Xbox PC app yet. Guess I'll wait a day or two and see if it shows up, but I think I'll buy it this time around; I just played the old versions using Game Pass back when I was subscribed and never worried about buying them at that time. I should also add that the old versions of Doom and Doom II don't seem to be appearing on the Xbox PC app any more, either, so I assume they're also replacing them with the new version on there, too. Now if only they'd actually let me see it.

ZDoom has been dead for almost a decade and succeeded by GZDoom. GZDoom is still a better way to play the classics (imo) but the just-released enhanced ports have a lot of features, deathmatch/co-op that's easy to jump into and a lot of other improvements. The new collection also comes with curated WAD packs including Sigil and Legacy of Rust which are from John Romero and Id/Machine Games respectively.

It's also a lot easier to download and activate mods/WADs in the new collection.

Those were updates to the original releases on steam, so if you just owned them period you're good.

Fuck yeah!!!!! Just found out about this now and it totally made my day.

Got it for free cuz I already had Doom and Doom 2.

I think this is the 6th or 7th version of Doom I have now but I'm always fucking down to play Doom again. Really looking forward to hearing the remix soundtrack too.
