I haven't played arena in a while but that's good to hear.

Although my true love is mono green, it's just not always as consistent.

Play a little bit here and there, but started to fall off a bit again. Have been meaning to check out Arena sometime

Pretty much just standard, I'm so bad at Draft :(

Everyone sucks at draft until they don't. Takes a LOT of reps, draft is hard!

Learning to draft IRL is so much better than just trying to figure it out on Arena.

I love IRL drafts, just can't afford them :(

I hit diamond though. This deck is disgusting. I just did 16 damage on turn 3 with a single 1 drop.

I've been playing an Azorius Artifacts deck. It's not quite Tier 1, but it's fun.

I'm all aboard on Green-Blue Cookies. So cheap to build and so much fun to beat down with some versatility

Also RIP Worldsoul Ramp, one of my favorite decks and 0 chance it survives rotation

I've played on and off for several years but think last time for me was like 8 months ago.

Played a lot pre/early- pandemic, both in person drafts with friends and standard on arena. Fell off hard when my home brew marduk knights deck rotated out and it just didn't perform in historic. Too much efficient removal.

I still watch a lot of nizzahon and numot on YouTube as background entertainment when cooking and cleaning. But haven't logged in for a couple years.

It's okay, the Aftermath Analyst deck is a sleeper hit in pioneer. It won an RCQ I did coverage for a couple of months ago. That deck is sweet.

Some of them are good! LotR, 40K, and potentially Final Fantasy. Most of them do suck though, at least somewhat because they're from IPs that stopped being culturally relevant years ago. (Sorry Doctor Who. At least your card designs were largely great)

I actually recently download Magic 2013 on Xbox to learn Magic! Red seems to be my style in that game, but I still have to unlearn YGO mechanics. Not being able to choose to attack monsters is weird, even though I get it for the game that Magic is, but I've definitely bumbled up encounters thinking I could easily get rid of a monster.

Just went 7-2 in Bloomburrow sealed with bunnies! Warren Warleader is so good.

I tried getting into Magic Arena after I bounced off Hearthstone but it felt like I was trading one evil for another so I didn't last long.

It's pretty overwhelming to get into Magic, even sticking to Standard I was unsure which packs I should be getting.

I played a few years ago when everything was vampires and cyber ninjas I think?

Arena's most efficient (and most fun) use is to save gold to enter draft events. You add everything you pick to your collection, you get to play a genuine competitive format, and you get premium currency as prize (in addition to more packs). Do that for a while to build up a collection and then craft the cards you want.

I like to play legacy, and occasionally draft. It's harder to stay on top of these days with all the new product releases

Legacy is in such a sad state. Horizons sets just murdered it.

Isn't it pretty poor on the cost effective front if you're losing all of your games as a new player? I mean I don't play anymore and doubt I'll hop in anytime soon but the draft modes in Hearthstone only paid a profit if you won 7 out of 12 games. Otherwise it wasn't a great way of getting new cards.

It's basically a rotating format with their current design philosophy. It'll never be what it once was.

Still, I will consider making it to Eternal Weekend this year.

I play arena off and on, right now is an on phase. I also went to 2 prereleases for bloomburrow, first one I did p well but got crap for pulls, 2nd one I did bad but got 2 of the same borderless mythic lol.

I usually stick to explorer on arena, I play merfolk. Along with drafts.

It's very poor if you don't do wel in draft but the threshold is a lot lower. It costs 1500 gems or 10k gold to enter a draft (maybe a week and a halfs worth of gold if you win a couple times a day and do your daily quest), and if you hit 3 wins you get 1000 gems, I think 5 out of 7 is where you break even. So hitting 3 wins will "almost" pay for your next draft. Plus as it was mentioned, you keep all the cards you draft unlike hearthstones Arena mode. So you're essentially overpaying in gold by some amount for 3 packs guaranteed with a chance to make it all back and more (since you get packs as rewards as well)

Also lately they've been having super premium drafts where if you hit all 7 wins you straight up win an IRL booster box or something? I've been tryign to save gems the next time one of those rolls around.

It's Sealed and you need to go 6-0 or 6-1, but yeah, Arena Direct is cool.

The reason draft works here compared to Arena in HS is, like we said, if you see a cool card in a draft you want? Nab it. It's yours. It might hurt your win rate in this draft, but it's yours for good.

Does arena still have quick draft options for half cost?

It does, though the payout is significantly lower for them post-draft. They also rotate on which sets are featured, so it often won't be the current premier set. Still, it's a good option, especially for someone inexperienced in draft.

Did my first arena bloomburrow draft last night and played like crap. I had a good bat deck but turns out, offspringing darkstar augur might not be the best idea in a limited format. Burned myself to death twice without sufficient lifegain (I had 4x sonar strike but no lifelink or no food).

The sad part is I would've won both games if I had drawn just a bit better on the effect. One of the games I drew the one 4-drop in my deck, the other one I'd have won that turn if I had drawn a land to negate the effect (That had no offspring on board that time). But alas, so it goes. I thought the sonar strikes would be enough.

I did when Arena first came out, but after my local friends moved away I just became a collector; I have like 60 of the precons, and thats it.

I play Arena mostly for the drafts. Not a huge fan of the constructed formats there.

Just went 7-0 in draft with an Izzet deck. Not REALLY Otters, though I played a decent amount of them. Got Dragonhawk as my bomb, but it only showed up in like three of the games! These were dominating wins too, I don't think I was ever in danger of losing any of the games, this was maybe the best deck I've ever drafted and I'm not sure how XD Run Away Together is a VERY nice card though, definitely got use out of it.

Picked up the MTG Battlegrounds game for the original Xbox on an impulse, looks like it could be a janky fun time.

So I did a draft.....lost first two games then won the next 6. Rabbits are disgusting.

Fun fact, I actually learned to play magic through trial and error playing a Demo of(I think?) Duels of the Planeswalkers in the 90s. It was rad lol

I actually owned this game and played it to completion before I knew what MTG even was as a kid. Janky is definitely a way to describe it imo. MTG x RTS

Oh 100%. I don't think any non-aggro deck can do well in draft unless they high roll extremely well.

Its actually really fun and they should make a new one.

You have both sold me completely on this game, decided to nab another cheap open copy though because the one I have is sealed and something about have a sealed original Xbox game is just very satisfying.

MTG x RTS seems like a decent match, much better than that MMO/Diablo-ish game that didn't make it out of beta at least.

A friend of mine absolutely loved Battlegrounds, it's so nostalgic to hear.

Yeah Bloomburrow is absolutely an aggro format, but at least it looks like multiple colors are viable, and UR is fine if things come together. RIP UB Rats though.

I decided to try a monoblue otters deck but it didn't work so well in standard, so I made it izzet and it works a lot better, yes I know that's the point but I wanted to try!

Stormchaser's talent + ral = many many otters when it pops off
