Its actually much less healthy. If you split 2000 calories between two meals and three snacks, its considerably better than 2000 calories in a single meal. It has to do with your metabolism I believe, and eating anything kind of jumpstarts it. So the consistent eating keeps your metabolism going all days. Another example I heard was an analogy; every time you eat your stomach is like an oven burning through the food. But it has to preheat. If you use it more frequently, its getting back up to temperature and burning off the food faster. But with one meal a day, its starting cold and having to burn through a lot. --- No matter our origin, we are all one family, we all share one planet, and we all need to feel loved and accepted. It has to do with your metabolism I believe, and eating anything kind of jumpstarts it. So the consistent eating keeps your metabolism going all days. I'm sorry, but this is nonsense Long term studies have not found any singificant health outcomes with meal timing and meal frequency. If anything, they slightly are in favour of intermittent fasting being better for health, but this is likely statistical noise. Whatever it is, it's a small effect. On the other hand, obesity is the single biggest marker for health when it comes to diet choices, and meal frequency is hugely impactful to obesity for most people. So the best answer is "choose the diet and eating schedule that best helps keep you lean". If OP finds that eating a large meal per day helps him lose and stay at a healthier weight, that will be the biggest dial he can turn to improve his health. --- CE's Resident Scotsman. http://i.imgur.com/ILz2ZbV.jpg ... Now there are also a variety of ways to fast which also makes a study harder to do, someone partaking in intermittent fasting for 20 years would be valuable info but having a study go that long is pricey and time consuming. Definitely hard to measure. Shorter term studies on fasting - when calorie controlled - have reported virtually no difference in health markers. But - and this is the big but - when you leave obese participants to just eat what they please and all you do is restrict the eating window, you tend to find that intermittent fasters eat less and lose weight. This isn't true for everyone. Some people do better with many meals, or with simple portion control. This is the thing about humans. We are the ultimate omnivores. And everyone you talk to will give you a different recommendations for the ultimate diet. Keto, paleo, carnivore, mediterranean. And then different eating strategies - 8 meals a day, IF, calorie counting, portion control, etc. Again and again, the success of the diet always seems to loop back to some kind of diet restriction, and ultimately your ability to adhere to that long term. --- CE's Resident Scotsman. http://i.imgur.com/ILz2ZbV.jpg ...
