Deadpool finally brought me back out.

Holy shit things are way different. $20 a ticket, you have to select your seats on the screen, I had to show I.D. before getting past the ticket collector, which sucks ass when you're already juggling a big ass bag of popcorn and drink. It'd be nice if they just had a small table to set shit down on while you fish out your ticket and I.D. but I guess that is on me for not knowing they would card my 38 year old grown ass.

-It was empty and they put a bunch of random people talking in the surround speakers so you get the full cinema experience

Well, movie was 10/10. The experience, however, pretty meh. I don't know, maybe I'm just jaded after Covid but I just... hated the crowd of people. The pricing is awful, watching cringe ass commercials for half an hour, having to stand up half a dozen times for people moving through the aisle, ect. Which I guess can be avoided by buying the ticket and waiting in my truck for half an hour.

I think movie theaters just aren't my cup of tea anymore. Probably just go back to waiting for the release to run its course and stream it.

Again though, great movie.

The funny part is, they probably didn't even read your ID.

I sold movie tickets at a theater in high school, always asked for ID, never read a single one.

Haven't been in a movie theater since 2019 and I don't plan to go back to one. I honestly hated the "theater experience" even before COVID gave me the perfect excuse to stop going.

I really miss those glorious few months during the pandemic when we were allowed to have same-day streaming for new releases. I know Scarlett Johansson was legally in the right on the Black Widow issue, but I can't help but kind of resent her for it. :(

I think I paid like $13 total when I saw it this afternoon. Great movie.

I rather like the assigned seating bit though. It took a while, but I found one with an available seat right next to an exit, which is important for me because... reasons.

Haven't they been doing this long before the pandemic?

I don't really like going to the theater. In recent years, I've only gone a few times per year. Sometimes only once. I usually only go for a movie I really don't want to wait for. Most of the time I just wait til its on streaming.

Possibly. It is the only theatre in a town of 32,000 people. They don't have a lot of motivation to update things, so I wouldn't be surprised if we were already way behind the times to start with.

Some places were doing it as far back as the 90s.
