Okay, question: What if the ones who pushed Biden out, because obviously, decides to try to push Harris out? I would ask "what then", but the bigger question I have is why? Why are they not wanting anyone to run against Trump for? Are these Democrats really Trump loving Republicans?

Harris barely polls better than Biden and still polls below Trump. I like her, but realistically if they just swap her in they might as well have kept Biden.

I still think it's a much better idea to support Harris for the next few months, instead of hoping that Biden does every fucking sentence and step 200% perfect because 9001 cameras are on him, waiting for him to show his age again.

Diceheist wants some mythical perfect Dem candidate everybody can really behind to stomp the competition at a competitive convention, even though all the top contenders have explicitly said they're not going to, so it would be some low to no name national presence Dem who would be chosen.

They want some fantasy to come true, which is not unique to them by any means.

This is fucking stupid not because dropped and endorsed her, but because he did that NOW instead of starting from minute one of his presidency to have her as the successor to pass the baton off to by the time 2024 rolled around and gradually warming the population to her. Not this last minute shit where the Repubs will put up as much tape as possible and everything will be confused to certain members of the general public. The train was clearly not ready for the end of the line 4 years ago, and you only now realized it when it's far too late to change trains.

I'm not saying it's impossible for them to win, just that they have to play it more carefully than other alternatives would. The numbers are the numbers, even Biden eventually understood you can't just plug your ears on them and call everyone a Trumper.

I'm skeptical of this notion given how huge of a role Trump's failure to handle the pandemic played for people voting for Joe last time around and Joe winning several states by less than 1% and Pennsylvania only slightly above 1%, but I won't throw the idea that he would have won if he rode it to the end out entirely given some of the other issues at hand which people vote for. It's just not as certain as some people would like to claim, and I believe that prepping someone else to run for 2024 in the first place would have been the wiser decision than staying the course like he did.

At least it appears that Dems are galvanizing around Harris. That's truly the only ticket. Replacing Harris and Biden effectively says this administration was a catastrophe, which it factually wasn't, and in history books it'll be regarded as among the best we've had nearly 100 years.

I'm hopeful with Biden and the Clintons endorsing Harris that the party will rally around her. In-fighting over who the next candidate should be would be fine if we were like a year out from the election but we're less than four months away.

Biden didn't want to. I'm convinced he was set up to be yanked off the ticket with that debate being as earlier as it was when neither party had formally nominated their candidate. The donors and real power brokers of the party like the Obamas spoke and they said he's out so he's out.

No, like the most electorally effective Democrat of the modern era, Obama, I'm pushing for them to do a smart thing that helps them win.

The number one thing Republicans are gonna to attempt to do with Harris is try to Hillary-ify her by proclaiming her a sneaky mastermind who backstabbed her president to slip into power after he did the hard labor of actually winning the primary, anointed by the party elite in a political coup. This type of propaganda peddling fails against authentic and likable candidates like Biden, but I have no idea if swing voters are gonna trust Harris that much, so I think it's worth it to protect her from this line of attack entirely.

Even Harris herself understands the need to avoid that stigma, and smartly says she still needs to "earn" the nomination. Unfortunately the usual suspects are doing their damnedest to fuck it up.

No Democrat worth a damn is likely going to bother primarying Harris, it's just gonna be Manchins and Williamsons, people aren't gonna be intensely butthurt when Harris wins the nomination anyway. And if there's another candidate so good that they somehow prevail under these circumstances then they probably deserved to and would trounce Trump anyway.

There is no harm in handling this as a matter of public affair in an open convention to make up for the fact that nobody actually got to vote on the nominee this time, and tons of potential harm in just deciding it in a shadowy backroom "virtual roll call" with no dissent alllowed.

Partisan Democrats here with embarrassing track records ("STFU Biden's not gonna drop out!!!") are extremely short-sighted and unable to see the forest past the tree. They're about as optically aware as the Hillary campaign. When you rush and demand unity you only get it from the base; real unity takes actual time and effort.

Nobody respects you.

So have the doomers moved on from Biden to complain about Kamala yet?
