We still don't fully know the shooter's motives, however when I learned he was a Republican who that wore some gun nut shirt I concluded he was likely a Never Trumper who, unlike most Republicans, talks about guns being "a solution to protect us from tyrants/oppressive governments" in earnest instead of just being code for "oh boy I hope I get to kill some Democratic government officials and be hailed as a hero". I am sickened how even foreign media such as the BBC seems to be propping him up as "heroic" for merely surviving an assassination attempt.
