If Microsoft acquires Steam, that would be objectively bad for virtually everybody involved, and I say this as a person who only uses the Series X and Steam for my gaming.

Whether or not the rumors are accurate, I truly hope this doesn't come to fruition.

Valve isn't perfect but if they stop running the storefront and Microsoft is able to take over it would pretty much be game over for me. I don't think Gabe needs the money but there's always the thought of what happens when he's gone?

Id say easily. Think about it. They take roughly 30% of every sale on Steam, ever, and have been for almost 2 decades, up until changing it very recently so games that pass certain sales thresholds they take a lower cut of. They are sitting on Scrooge McDuck money even after investing into Proton and the Steam Deck and Steam Machines and SteamOS etc.

There's no way that deal would go through. If there were legal concerns about Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard, then buying Valve would be an even bigger deal in the courts. It would give Microsoft too much power
