The ability to play Steam games on a Tesla, one of the recent Model S/X automobiles' new features, is reportedly going away for good. From this point forward, new Tesla Model S/X vehicles will no longer support Steam integration, shifting the focus instead to other app functionalities and entertainment features.
As of now, anyone who owns a Tesla Model S/X will no longer be able to play games on the car's built-in computer via Steam and all new models going forward will seemingly forgo the feature entirely. It still describes the onboard computer as a "gaming computer," however, so there may be plans for more direct gaming integration in the future, though the company has not stated as such in an official capacity.

This is exactly what happened and you can't change my mind.

I think I honestly support this. Unless there's precautions to prevent people from playing games while driving, people will absolutely do that and it's a silly thing to even have the ability to game through your vehicle to begin with.

One time a group of friends of mine were on the way to Albq to see a concert and the guy driving was also playing donkey kong or something and nearly swerved them off the road.

People are distracted enough as it is through traditional objects/cell phones, adding literal gaming into the equation does not seem like it serves any good.

So any Tesla that currently has it will still have it. I read its because the newer cars are switching cpu/gpu.

I drive an old model 3 that doesnt have the gaming pc built into it. It only plays stardew valley

Couldnt see myself ever using it anyway, id rather just plug in my steam deck and play on that

If youre willingly to do all that and be in Tesla jail just to play a game while driving there are infinitely easier options. Like just bringing your steamdeck or your phone.

Are they downgrading their gpus? Only reason Id imagine

Oh I definitely plan to have an EV one day, just never a Tesla. However it does sound like you found a logical way around benefitting Musk and still obtaining a Tesla, so that's not bad and I could perhaps be open-minded to that route, though I've come to dislike the idea of used vehicles based off past experiences.

these days used vehicles are so damn expensive they arent worth it anymore in most situations. Sucks cause im gonna need a new vehicle soon

Agreed for the most part, but for me I just tend to have a lot of issues with used vehicles. I had a 2005 Maxima that my uncle who has been around cars all his life and was a tow truck wrecker for 30+ years verified was in good condition and great for the price. Literally a month later it started having issues and became a money sinkhole.

However there can be exceptions like my recent KIA. In 2021 I got a deep cerulean 2019 KIA Niro that only had 6736 miles on it, dealer said the previous family barely used it, it even had their Sirius XM subscription still on it, or whatever time they paid for at least cause I had it for some months before I created my own account. It was a Memorial day sale so base price was 18k, 23k in total after taxes and extra fees. I loved that vehicle and unfortunately had an accident this past Dec 1st which led to its eventual totaled status after months of my insurance dicking around and trying to fix it when everybody know it should have been totaled from the start.

Gaming pc is fine if it's in the back seats. It shouldn't be in reach or view of the driver obviously. Many cars put a tv in the backseat for kids
