What do you mean "which assassin's creed?" That's like saying you've never heard of call of duty or final fantasy. It's fine if you haven't played it, but saying what you say is just nonsense.

Your statement of "you would never have even heard of it if not for the controversy" is patently false though. The game is a big name AAA game, it would absolutely get a ton of press regardless.

The problem here is you're assuming your own experience is everyone else's. Millions of people would have heard of this game controversy or not.

Yeah, the series has never been about historical accuracy. The opening disclaimer even says that's it's a work of fiction that was "inspired" by real events. So they take some actual history and craft a fictional story that loosely connects to those people and places.

So suddenly crying about historical accuracy for this game is very telling.

When it's a AAA game? Yeah, it is. Man, that new Mario platformer won't sell at all because I've never played Mario so I don't know what it is. Like... Come on.

We aren't talking about an indie game or something. That's like saying you've never heard of Resident Evil. Even if you don't know all of them, it's ridiculous to act like the game won't sell.

I only said probably, and no games success is guaranteed by virtue of being AAA. Either way, we wont know until the game releases.

And like I said before. I was referring to the game(this one) alone. Not the brand. I know who Mario is but never owned a switch. So its not odd if I havent been keeping tabs on the series and cant tell you what his last game was.

The correct take is that you shouldn't care because it's an Ubisoft game, and Ubisoft is to be thrown in the bin promptly.

Realize that Yasuke and how they handle him is a non issue, and that the game has actually real problems that are worth criticizing.

- Always online despite not having any multi-player components.
- No gameplay in the trailer
- It being a Ubisoft game
- It most likely being like past AC games and having a ton of bloat.

I'm hoping we'll get some actual gameplay footage soon, since summer games great is coming up. But yeah it's wild to release a trailer for a game coming out in 6 months and not show any actual gameplay

Wonder if the game will portray how white male Christians in that era were treated and how The Gamers will feel about that.

Yasuke is pure combat he has only some very bad stealth abilities & no hidden blade so he can't assassinate anyone even if you somehow manage to sneak up on them.

Which would make sense. I would imagine it's hard to blend in or be sneaky when you are the only black dude in like all of Japan.

The devs don't explicitly say but seem to insinuate you'll be switching characters periodically. What's unknown is if it's forced or if you can choose when to switch.

To not care, because it's an Ubisoft game and they should have made a Japanese Asscreed 15 years ago.

I did a little digging. Seems there's few accounts of yasuke, but what there is is reference to him being given stipends and having the duty of carrying nobunagas swords. Both are samurai things specifically. Bit odd that there's not more history about him though.

It's not odd, because there can't be much more history.

He was in Nobunaga's service for only 15 months.

They could have made the male character a pederast union Kosho before he becomes an assassin and they couldn't argue that it wasn't historically accurate. Ubisoft should have tackled that and seen how mad the Gamers got.
