Like imagine a business boasting "since 2022." Silly, right?

I think for me a broad stroke rule would be the year definitely has to start with a 1. Then I think it depends on how long the product itself has been around. Like, if it's a root beer company, it better be before like 1960 or so.

I've actually seen a since 18-something on some companies.

Forget whatever line of business they're actually in, they should be selling their longevity techniques.

It should be at least 15 years before you you can start saying "established in ..." or "Since ..."

The place closed down now but there this was burgers and food joint in the mall at the food court I worked at and I swear it had to be the managers idea of a joke. This was 2019 or so and he had a sign up saying "Great food since 2017." The damn place had just opened up recently and he was already bragging!

Needs to be long enough that employees could have theoretically worked long enough at the company that a baby born during employment is themselves old enough to get a job at the same company and carry on the legacy.

While the exact number is a bit fuzzy, I think 20 years covers most bases and it's also a good time for a rebranding with 20th anniversary stuff.

Be classy, just have the "Est. 20XX" thing and let it sit there until it's venerable.

I'd say ten years is fair. Keeping a small business afloat is difficult, so if they've managed to stay around for a decade then they must be doing something right.
