I dont understand what the goal even is with all these harsh moderations on previously innocuous content

if they want to kill the board, kill the board.

Privating the board, then systematically banning everyone notable for things that wouldnt have even previously been considered offenses, but also not telling us what specific rule theyre breaking, feels like someone is just enjoying exercising their power nicer a community thats been built over the course of 20+ years

The only time suspensions result in anything less than purg, unless they were mistakes, is if it's a violation in the user's profile. Admin intervention is needed to remove the offending content hence the suspension, but it'll often then be downgraded to just a warning.
