I got it! A new Waaagh! has formed and somebody convinced them there's female custodians for some reason.

I literally already did. Hell I posted the article the games workshop put out as a statement that the game has a fascist problem and they aren't welcome. It's not my fault you didn't read it.

I did read it. The statement was very general and said players showing up with real life hate symbols aren't welcome. There was no specific examples cited though which is I guess what I was looking to read up on some.

That's kind of the point. They have 2-3 female only groups, but rather than have that and do something with them - they specifically went after Custodes because in-lore they can't be women. So what appears to be GW trying to appease Amazon / get ESG money they're making women Custodes for the amazon show, even though it's been specifically men only since it's existed. Then trying to double back and saying they've always existed, etc, when they never did.

Lore reason, if you want to read it -

"For one thing, the Emperor purposely chooses men & see's them as the base for perfect super soldier specimens of war. They are not randomly chosen & are sons from Terran Nobility. The nobles essentially present their sons to the Emperor in a ceremony. The Emperor looks for the best genetically superior male babies, and then narrows it down further to the best of the best genetic males of the top 0.001%, etc. of those. Afterwards they are heavily modified at the cellular level to be "perfect" super soldiers via space alchemy by the Emperor. They are physically huge, and undergo huge amounts of muscle growth (many of them die in the process as their bodies couldn't handle the strain of the modification). They're even called The Emperor's true sons, and referred to as sons and use male pronouns."

I would imagine some custodes players would be bothered by their lore being changed, but honestly since Im not a custodes player nor do I know of any custodes players its not a big deal to me.

I used to play Custodes in 8th edition. All this means to me is that there were a few women under the shiny helmets too. Giving it anymore thought than that, or being at all upset about it is pathetic.

But 40k lore is notorious for specifying you cant believe anything anyone says. The Emperor being the biggest liar of all.

Last comment on this because I don't want to derail the topic but at most it looks to support the legal argument called Unitary Executive Theory that would be challenged in court proceedings if this playbook was followed. Not sure I agree with the take that it is an end to democracy though. The executive branch outside of the president isn't elected ultimately so gutting them isn't exactly an assault on democratic rule unless you think only Congress has the power to gut executive branch offices with the power of the purse. Personally I give pause to granting the executive branch too much power, I'm also concerned about the bureaucratic state as well. The US government is definitely bloated and has too many disparate interests that don't all align with that of the average American especially when it comes to foreign policy goals.

How much influence the president is granted by the constitution over the departments of the government is certainly a constitutional legal question though. This has played out in the recent past with the head of Consumer Protection Bureau where the Trump administration successfully got the Supreme Court to agree that the president had the power to remove the head of the bureau (a 5-4 decision). The power of the president to remove members of the executive branch has ping ponged a bit over the years in court proceedings and project 2025 looks like it would invite new challenges:

He also got angry that the community manager for Helldivers II stated that they were only banning the people who attacked the folks who suggested LBGT flag capes and not the latter also, claiming that the studio had gone woke by not punishing the people who werent causing any issues other than making a suggestion that these anti-woke jokes clearly didnt like.

Yes, 40k has an alt-right problem. That doesn't make people complaining about the lore of an established universe being tampered with automatically alt-right.

Personally, I don't think it matters and I doubt the show will last more than a few seasons regardless.

The lore has been retconned and changed several times over. Remember when the Necrons were Space Terminators rather than Space Tomb Kings?

Entire factions have had their back stories completely rewritten. Necrons, Leagues of Votann (Squats), and Tyranids (Genestealers) being the biggest ones.

I don't know a damn thing about the lore for Warhammer, but I have a friend who is really into the lore and he said Warhammer is infamous for retconning their stories and lore all the time. To me, this just sounds like anything that lasts for a long time, you get new creative heads and writers that just change things as they see fit. I guess my friends biggest criticism for this is just how lazily they went about it instead of trying to fit it into the story or something.
