If they're borrowing large amounts and taking a long time/irregular intervals in payment or something along those lines then that interest probably isn't worth it. One of my friends back home was going to not get the house he wanted because somebody made an offer of 5k more and he had money tied up in other things at the time. I got paid back asap though. I didn't ask for interest because it's a silly concept, to me, in regards to personal loans like this. I also paid a coworkers cell phone bill, which was about 50 bucks, and it took like 4 months, but I got paid back also(I figured if I didn't get paid back I wouldn't do it again but I wouldn't be upset. Family with one kid and another coming, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to eat the cost) If it's all the time I would wonder why we're in that situation and try to see if there are ways we can avoid it.
