As I hope most people know, it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. This on its own accomplishes nothing.

So why are they doing it? Wouldnt the Democrats just go along with it anyway since its already law?

Not quite. The bill will be presented to the public as an anti-voting bill for non-citizens, but the GOP will cram so much unrelated batshit fuckery into the bill that the Democrats wont vote for it. This is by design. The GOP knows they wont, so once the vote fails, they can come out and scream that the Democrats are now on the record for non-citizens voting and of course ignore all the rest of the shit that was in the bill.

Do you have the receipts of this actually happening with this particular bill or nah? Do you have the actual bill?

The image just says they plan to put this bill up to a vote. At the surface if it is about non-citizens voting then yes dems should all vote against it, which is what I commented about.

...no? I am well aware of stuffing bills with pork. I'm asking for this particular instance what is in the bill as I commented on the fragment of a piece of an article TC posted and nothing else?

Well let me amend my post then anyway:

IF this bill is only to disallow non-citizens to vote (and only non-citizens) then the dems should vote for it cause it is already illegal.
IF this bill has extra pork in it that also disallows say, green card holders, asylum pending people or whomever else doesn't fit the mold of a "model voter" then yes they should rightfully not vote for it.

The Conservative Party in Canada tried something similar with a push to make honour killing illegal

There was a lot of backlash because most people realized that it was a blatant dogwhistle and that murder is already illegal under the criminal code of Canada

So it looks like the bill would introduce new hoops that people have to jump through when registering to vote, supposedly in the name of keeping noncitizens from voting but in actuality would just make it harder for eligible voters to register since noncitizens trying to vote illegally almost never happens.

Yes, but they know it won't pass. So it seems like the plan is pretty much what the TC said. Introduce a bill to fix a nonexistent problem to try to give the impression that it's actually a problem. Include provisions that will ensure Democrats will never pass it. Then use that to attack Democrats.
