Figured I'd just make an actual DD2 topic. Surely there's got to be at least a few B8 peeps playing it, right? Well if you're a fellow Xbox player, let's be friends so we can use each other's pawns! Apparently there's an option in game to search for specific pawns regardless of platform but it's not actually working so idk if they're ever gonna fix that.

So how's your journey going so far? I'm a little late to the party so I'm just starting out and it's already left an impression lol. I got chased through through this whole region by a super strong hobgoblin that wouldn't let up. I only finally escaped after many, many deaths by sheer luck that he despawned or got stuck on a tree or something, I was too scared to look back at him lol.

Im playing it, really enjoying it so far. Im playing Mystic Spearhand at the moment, thats been fun. I enjoy the sense of adventure that comes from leaving a town and just exploring the world and camping out and all that.

That was my favorite part about the original. Like it just feels like I'm really out on this grand, dangerous adventure. Just wandering around discovering the world and it's mysteries, running into scary enemies or situations and trying to survive.

Speaking of, I got my revenge on that damn hobgoblin! I came upon him again with my full, higher level party and just gang banged him. He couldn't move or get any hits in. He was still very scary and had a ton of HP though.

Shame no else seems to be playing. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself! I've already had some really silly things happen that I might post a video of later.

Nah I'm having a blast, I just don't have a lot of time to play.

About 20 hours in, still messing around in the opening forest biome area. Made it to the capitol. Mobs are kind of annoying, but the bigger enemies are always a thrill to fight. Maxed out my vocation on Archer. It's a fun build if a bit boring, currently leveling up Warrior now.

I'm playing too and having a great time about 50 hours in. As I draw near to the end, though, it's really perplexing and actually kind of baffling how this game appears to be falling victim to the exact same stuff that made the original "the best 7/10 game ever." Like, I really just want to know wtf happened that they made the exact same mistakes on top of actually going backwards on some stuff like storage/equipment management being a straight up QoL downgrade from Dark Arisen.

Yeeah it is kinda odd. I'd guess because of the huge time in-between the games? Like idk how many of the same people worked on this one versus the first?

Same thing happened to my first one! It was down to just over one health bar left, after a grueling battle and then whoops, slipped into the water lmao. Pretty anticlimactic but I'll take that over the game freezing in a similar place like what happened initially. He was being super annoying and spamming meteors and I'd about given up on reviving the pawns.

I swapped to leveling up Sorcerer quick casting makes such a huge difference with that vocation lol

Oh my god the pawns can be unbearably fucking stupid sometimes...

Was fighting a golem on a very high, very small cliff area and the golem was rampaging and slipped right off the cliff. I was laughing at his stupidity when my main pawn suddenly took off running after him, right off the 100 foot drop and splatted on the ground beside the golem. Whyyyy?! And just 15 mins before this, he just up and disappeared, assumedly into the brine we were nearby at the time.

Aw man. I went through all the sphinx riddles being careful to make sure I was getting the right answers only to miss out on the grand prize duty to her flying away never to be seen again. The multiple guides I looked through could have mentioned how important it was to be prepared before turning in the final answer, ugh. Stupid autosave system fucked me over of course.

Ive just unlocked Trickster and am trying it out I dont think I get it yet lol

More than any other vocation in the game, Trickster needs a few vocation levels before it really becomes playable. Ultimately you'll want to get your ghost into position (potentially even in the air where nobody can reach him using the astral projection skill or where nobody can see it via the fake wall) and then pop the pawn buff and spam the AOE taunt as the enemy AI shatters to pieces and gets obliterated by the pawns they're completely ignoring.

Pawn buff and AOE taunt are non-negotiable and absolutely essential. Beyond that you can use your remaining slots either for the meister ability (can knock big guys on their ass,) the fake wall, astral projection or if you're feeling *really* spicy the fake floor so you can do set-ups that get enemies to jump off cliffs.
