It different for me now. It use to be midnight to 6am. Got up with the Chickens my friend use to say. Right now, I'm not sleeping well at all. I might get 2 hours like 3-5. My cat gets me up and says it's hungry, feed me. I then can't get back to sleep. I'm ok most of the morning but after lunch around 1pm I take a nap and wake up at 4pm. It's been this way for a month. I'm use to broken sleep though. Raising cattle there was always something going on. Birthing calves, wild animals prowling, bulls having a tussle etc. Then when I was taking care of my friend who was Blind and had COPD, I was always getting up to see if she was ok or needed a bathroom break. I just want unbroken sleep.

I wish sleep was optional. That would make my life far easier.

WIthout becoming a meth addict of course.

What time were you waking up at at college versus now? Was/is wake time consistent?

Ah I see. Assuming you're sleeping that whole 5 hours and not tossing and turning, getting 5 hours of sleep consistently is probably pretty low. Sure, you can function, but you'll feel that fatigue from lack of sleep eventually.

If you're sleepy at college at 11 or 12 like you are right now (but were staying up until 3am for whatever reason), you might be able to maintain that back at college. In other words, if you're consistently waking up at the same time, you might just need to make sure you're giving yourself more than a 5 hour window to sleep.

it's essential but miss out on extra hours in day.

average is 12-2am then dog wakes me up at 8am. have to then sleep till 12pm to rid of the tired feeling (love the dog to death but sometimes wish i can sleep in) she's 13 years old for a large breed.

going to be paying for it today because i decided to do hard WRC anniversary race. beaten it but more remain (wasn't the foggy track).

I swear I made a reply to this but yeah I just hate the time wasted not sleeping but trying to fall asleep I will be in bed awake for like an hour and its painful to me cos I have toxic thoughts about how embarrassing i am and every moment I acted out of line or not perfectly

Sorry you're dealing with those thoughts.

Also, another thing that could be different with your sleep getting regular is, wherever you are now, maybe you're not having those toxic thoughts as much and are able to fall asleep quicker. If you have those toxic thoughts more at college, your brain may be conditioned into associating your college bed with arousal/toxic thoughts and the connection between bed and sleep may be weakened. Arousal (of various sorts) prevents sleep from unfolding.

i like distracting myself by focusing on something and so I dont get much toxic thoughts as I do college its only when Im doing nothing and waiting its not *that bothersome anyway though I dont believe my thoughts I kinda just let thoughts flow through me it bothers me less than I made it sound.

Gotcha. If the thoughts creep in from being idle in bed, another thing to consider is how sleepy are you when you get into bed? Sleepy is different than tired. Can't fall asleep if not sleepy enough.

i know when im genuinely very sleepy a bit better cos I get to a point where I just go quieter in my thoughts and being quiet in my thoughts its hard to tell Ive gone quieter but any other tell I do not know its terrible how I find it hard to know if Im tired or its me wanting to sleep out of boredom or feeling of necessity

That's good insight to know that your thoughts are quieter when you're sleepy. Tired is more of an energy, exhaustion feeling. Other signs of sleepiness may be eyes feeling heavy, yawning, harder to focus, head bobbing/starting to doze off. Speaking of necessity, sleep is like hunger. Hunger drive, sleep drive. As time passes, hunger builds. When you eat, hunger decreases. Same with sleep.

I dont get those symptoms besides much besides wanting to claw at my eyes but at that point its usually after my thoughts go quieter so its not that helpful. another thing which I noticed is where I feel more ballsy bolder and willing to do something I want to do but too nervous to actually do. I do know thats common now thanks to that sonic 3am life meme
