I smoked cigs for almost 5 years before anyone in my family found out. it's easy to go a few hours without one while blaming any cig smell on your friends that were in the car earlier

I'll fully admit the only reason most people view smoking as "looking cool" is the same reason everyone thinks we need a diamond ring when getting married, media/marketing portrayal of it being that way for years upon years eventually propaganda/social conditioning us to see it that way.

But yeah it's far from the grossest habit, but it is a habit that can effect others negatively.

It's definately necessary propaganda (D.A.R.E.) because tobacco is highly addictive and hooked on it at a young age only makes it harder to get rid of the addiction, even though the reason most of the anti-drug programs were cringey as fuck is because many of them are financed by tobacco companies themselves. Like my grandpa smoked cigarettes because it was a normal custom for boys to become men, in Vietnam, to smoke it by the time you hit 16 years old. It really wasn't until he came to America that he gave up on it by going cold turkey (I don't know how the fuck he managed to though).

But yeah I say it as someone who always associated all my favorite fictional characters as cool when they did stuff like the way they act (rebelious), how they dressed (sunglasses), a cigarette in their mouth/hands, etc. So I'm definately aware I'm one of the people who has been condition to think those associated characteristics were cool, but just because something is cool isn't going to be something I'm going to imitate.

Cigarettes and youth smoking are actually still a huge problem in Asia. when american companies weren't allowed to market here they moved overseas.

100% a problem. All my cousins from Vietnam (around my age) used to smoke cigarettes. Many of them transitioned to vaping/e-cigs but not because it's "healthier" but because it's what's trending.

It is but it has proven to me to be the hardest habit to kick. I guess cause smokers smoke all day where as other habits you usually just do for a part of thr day.

Well some of that stuff is just for flavor so maybe they did smoke it. "Only" about 10% of that list is proven carcinogenic. Most of it ranges from harmless to "absorbs nicotine into your blood faster so you get addicted harder."

The smell of cigarettes and the smoke is the entire reason why I don't like smoking. Agreed on the weed smoke being an acquired taste. Before I ever smoked I didn't like it but now it's something that I really enjoy

Brush your teeth and maybe reduce your intake to a mere half a pound per day

Any level of smoking outside of maybe an occasional hookah visit is an instant left swipe for me on dating apps regardless of any other credentials.

Dealt way too long with my mom smoking in the house when I was a kid.

Any level of smoking outside of maybe an occasional hookah visit is an instant left swipe for me on dating apps regardless of any other credentials.

Dealt way too long with my mom smoking in the house when I was a kid.

As a smoker I probably wouldn't date a non smoker unless I found myself willing to quit. Mind you wanting to quit and willing being two seperate things.

I personally would feel bad subjecting them to it and other the hand it's just something they could nag me on.

nicotine is an objectively shitty drug. it makes you feel good for a brief period at first, then you're addicted and you need it to feel normal. just use good drugs.

Currently in this predicament, but it's easier to get off of than other drugs I'm also addicted to. By a long shot.
