But it also only ranks so high for me by virtue of watching little else from the 'past 10 year' timeframe though, it'd probably rank somewhere in the 20s on my overall anime list. He also did Danganronpa 3 (not V3), so there's certainly still some crossover there. Akudama Drive and Astra were both in the shortlist for my shortlist, I just knew they weren't ginna make the cut. Giant Beasts of ARS is the last original thing he was the lead on, but I didn't get too far into it. Same with Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka, but that was also an adaptation from a manga someone else wrote. Also need to correct myself in that he only did the anime for Astra, Shinohara did the manga (Sket Dance, Witch Watch). Like, Suicide Squad Isekai is written by Tappei Nagatsuki from Re:Zero, but is it written by him or is it "written" by him? Gen Urobochi's name has been on more mediocre projects than I can count and almost all of those are just him basically signing off after giving a synopsis or writing the first couple episodes, Aldnoah.Zero being the most notorious example, but there are plenty. Do people actually disagree or is it just lower viewership here than I realize? I wasn't a huge fan of Sound Euphonium and I definitely always felt like that was an unpopular opinion. I really didn't like the melodrama in S2. I also haven't watched beyond S2, though. I think having that Blue Bird movie come next is putting me off. From what I've read elsewhere, it's really rushing through the source material and excising all the things I'd actually want to see. There weren't any good character moments to develop their relationship, so everything feels hollow and unearned. I get the sense that there's a good story in there somewhere, this adaptation just isn't telling it. This was my most anticipated anime of the season, too.
