1TB isn't enough for my purposes. I do see it has a micro SD slot, but I might need more beyond that.

supposedly it has two, at the very least 1 so the main drive is changeable.

M.2 2280 means it's 22 mm wide and 80 mm long and uses the M.2 PCI-e interface, which is pretty much the standard for modern SSDs, so it should be a very simple thing to upgrade.

If this is a gaming laptop, the Samsung 990 PRO is probably about the best SSD you can buy currently, with read/write speeds of 7450/6900 MB/s. Only down side is the price, $170 for 2TB and $320 for 4TB.

The WD_BLACK SN850X is probably the second best, with read/write speeds of 7300/6350 MB/s, and a substantially better price tag, $237 for 4TB.

Thanks for the input! I went ahead and bit the bullet. It comes with an $80.00 gift card, so I'll use that to either update the storage or the RAM. I already have a couple drives in my other laptop, already, but one is faulty and they could both be faster.

Also, may be a dumb question, but is laptop the RAM the same as you would install in a normal PC?

so it should be a very simple thing to upgrade.

At least, as simple as any other laptop upgrade would be. Modern laptops tend not to be the easiest to swap parts in, with many requiring you to remove the full keyboard assembly to access components. I miss the days of upgrading my 2007 laptop's RAM by just unscrewing one panel on the bottom and swapping in two new sticks. This laptop may not be as inaccessible as others, but without seeing a bottom view, I can't really tell.

Laptops usually use a smaller size module than desktops.

That laptop probably requires a 262-pin DDR5 SO-DIMM, but you'd need to check the manufacturer specs to be sure. It's generally preferred to install RAM in identical pairs so they can work in dual-channel mode.

Gotcha, thanks. I figured it was something like that. I'll do some more research.

Heck yeah it is haha

I found myself in need of an upgrade(and possible replacement) anyways due to issues I'm having with my current laptop. I plan on keeping that one for work purposes, but I've dealt with the headache of Windows occasionally not reading the GPU for about 6-8 months now. And while it was good for my needs at the time, I am wanting something more powerful across the board.

on a cheap no name brand like that, I wouldn't be surprised if the ram was just soldered and non upgradable

it says it's a 2 slot and up to 64gb supported, so it might not be soldered

That's one of the things I checked. The GPU is soldered, but the RAM is definitely upgradeable.
