It depends on what they are using them for.

if they are for for capturing criminals or whatever German shepherd or that other dog that looks almost just like it.

Most drug sniffing dogs are other breeds iirc

i know they like to use beagles to sniff for food

Aside from shepherds, Belgian Malinois are pretty popular among police/military. And, Bloodhounds are the best at scent tracking.
