From the get-go, I will say the action scenes were 110% better, animation was better quality as well than the original. And I don't want to hear idiots say this is another Disney's social justice/people of color pandering bs, when you literally had a white guy in Cyclops, save 2 blacks in Storm, and Bishop when they got wiped out in the first 5 minutes. And Morph is non-binary. Deal with it, bitches. Atleast they're a somebody here, and not blasted off like a scrub by a Sentinel in the very first episode.

Good stuff. Looking forward to episode 3. And with the success of this, I hope they also bring back Spider Man.

Yeah, that was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. They kept the spirit of the original.

And I loved Wolverine's reaction to Jean giving birth and the dash to the hospital. That was a nice comic highlight amongst all the grim bigotry parallels, which were a tiny bit on the nose at times

I mean I am hoping it's more a mind game towards the couple than merely following suit since we have had say the Venom adaptations usually done better than the comics or Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes doing Secret Invasion better.

As an aside, their guest appearance on Spider-Man, kind of a sign of things to come cast wise with the mix of Canadian and LA voices.

Oh and AJ LoCascio being the choice for Gambit. Among other roles to note is Gizmo from the recent Gremlins cartoon and the voice of Marty McFly in the 2011 BTTF games.

As someone who doesn't really care for non adult animation anymore, but a huge fan of the original cartoon as a kid, is it worth watching? It's what, 10 episodes?

I remember about 15 years ago, I tried rewatching the show and honestly, it just didn't jive with me anymore. I found it boring and melodramatic, but as a kid, I was 100% enthralled.

it is very much firmly a kid's show of its era. i'm glad that era of animation is pretty much over with. up until pretty recently people just assumed kids were too stupid to follow more serious and/or over-arching plots instead of villain of the week situations.

I feel its gotten worst, now we only have clearly adult only shows like Invincible or brain dead simple hero shows like the most recent Marvel hero cartoons like Ultimate spiderman. 90's X-men had its flaws but pepole really don't realize how vital it was for it, 90's Spiderman and Batman for leading to Superhero shows having any plot at all compared to the throw away filler that most super hero' shows were before it like" Spiderman and friends."

There's been a lot of changes to animation and series like Invincible would be something I'd watch when I was the same age I was watching X-Men.

I don't feel like its worse, I just feel like there's a lot more accessibility with animation because it was once ruled as just for children except for something like The Simpsons or The Critic.

anime too. its popularity showed that kids are more than capable of following a long running plot even if said show is broadcast on a weekly schedule instead of daily.

I was young when South Park started coming out and I watched that as well. I also watched the Simpsons(my mom didn't want me watching it because of the adult themes but honestly its so tame compared to something like Invincible) And I know just saying I watched it doesn't say much but most kids my age started watching South Park at a very young age. Played GTA too. At some point children started getting more into adult rated series.

I also feel like comics are the same way. Comic books have a lot of adult themes but were for kids but I can read them still and feel like it was for adults.

Its actually the reason I started watching Dragon Ball Z. I remember watching the Namek saga and I enjoyed it but wasn't really sure what was going on yet and then it ended on a cliffhanger and having a series that didn't just end the current story after an episode or two was refreshing.

Well, that's why I stress supporting some of the prior Disney stuff like Amphibia, The Owl House, even The Ghost and Molly McGee which even though standalone did have changing elements to the status quo. Or heck currently besides X-Men, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is something to support.

I don't know. I feel like with some lack of enthusiasm for comics, people don't look to other stuff for good stories. Try stuff outside the (iconic) superheroes and you can be surprised with what is there.

Like with comics in the 2010s, Mega Man, Batman '66 (While said lead is iconic, it wasn't part of the mainline*) and and Thom Zahler comic s were good and supporting them means showing encouraging more good stuff.

Highly doubt they're doing the storyline that relies on multiple other storylines which haven't even been shown in that universe yet. Even disregarding that Ben Reilly won't be around as he could easily be written out, you still need the concept of Limbo introduced along with Magik.
If that storyline ever happens, I don't see it happening this season.

EDIT: Lol nvm, I just realized you weren't referring to the somewhat recent Spider-Man/X-Men crossover event. But the original one.

So as a note, there will be a mini-series starting next week I believe is a bridge between Graduation Day and '97.

@TheSavageDragon
Yeah I just brought it up cause it was the first time that any story with TAS' cast had LA actors as well. And it wasn't just the X-Men cast recording from Canada.

They were brought over to the US to take part in the episode hence why they shied away from using them for the Secret Wars aside from Storm's brief US voice actor Iona Morris (who voiced Medusa in the 90s F4 series).

I just always find it interesting when VAs from different studios and such are in the same production. Spider-Man Unlimited for example had mostly the Vancouver Ocean Group with Canadian/US actors Jennifer Hale and Rino Romano. In a reverse, The Incredible Hulk's second season was an LA cast with Michael Donovan as Grey Hulk.

But for other past examples if anyone shares that obsessive interest:

Great first 2 episodes, the animation got an absolute upgrade. I notice they seem to like to show off Gambits abs a lot lol. Overall I enjoyed it, they got the spirit down from the original animated show. I gotta give it to them for changing up the opening a little as well, hopefully this is an ongoing thing for the future episodes. Though I really hate the direction of getting rid of Storm's powers. Like I get she's the most overpowered X-men of the lot (besides Jean Grey), but come on why did they have to do that to my queen. Well at least this means more character development for her I guess.

Also I hope they don't go into the "multiverse" direction with Xmen 97 with that ending for episode 2.
