You just got a new job. The pay and benefits are good, it's not a bad commute, the hours are ideal, and it's the kind of work that you would enjoy doing. In all regards it's going to be pretty damn good for you. Then you walk in on your first day and meet the manager. It's Michael Scott from The Office. And no, I don't mean Steve Carell; I mean the actual character himself, who has somehow manifested into the real world.

He's going to behave exactly as he does on the show, and for some reason, the higher-ups will keep him on staff even when he's getting truly ridiculous and fireable. You don't know what your personal/professional relationship to him will be; you could be the equivalent of Ryan, or Dwight, or Toby, or even Jan or Holly. You just don't know what his treatment towards you will be. All you know is that you have to make a decision right now with no further context than "Michael Scott is going to be your manager."

Do you work for him? Or do you walk out and find a new job?

I work for him, but I do so in the style of not engaging with him whatsoever.

I wouldn't be able to stand him, so I'd try to be like Stanley and just do my work and not be a part of his nonsense unless it meant skipping actual work and still getting paid.

Michael Scott is an exaggeration, but on some level yeah we do have bosses like that. My boss is kinda like that, doing dumb jokes and throwing us under the bus when things get tough, stuff like that.

But you know what's way worse is that my supervisor is like Charles Miner (the guy why tried to get Jim fired) and I laugh-cry at how eerily accurate that dynamic is except of course my supervisor is way worse and makes Charles seem tame by comparison but you get the idea.

I'd risk it with those perks.

Fuck yes.

There were only a few people that he really honed in on, I can be a Kevin or a Creed.

I feel like people are forgetting a lot of instances of him being an asshole despite caring about his employees. I'm a basic bitch who watches reaction channels and one of them did an episode today where he purposefully sabotages Jim's chance at a promotion. Then there's also him hitting Meredith with his car, being a fuckin' baby about his birthday when Kevin's waiting on a possible cancer diagnosis, and the entire Secret Santa situation.

I have not watched the series but saw things with him in it and he's very high maintenance from what I can tell and yet it would probably still be 100% better than working for my boss who is constantly whiny and bitchy and petty about the most stupidest of things.
