Jennifer Lopez has canceled seven dates of her first North American tour in five years, in support of her new album This Is Me Now and its pair of companion films.
The dates spanning Aug. 20-31 in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans and Houston were listed as canceled on Ticketmaster at some point on Wednesday; the Cleveland and Houston dates apparently had been removed from the itinerary earlier, as they were part of the tours originally announced itinerary on Feb. 15 but are no longer present on the site at all. An updated itinerary can be found on her social media accounts.
While the tour is still scheduled for a robust 30 shows, large numbers of tickets at most of the tours dates remain unsold, judging by the seating charts on Ticketmaster.com. While such charts are not always completely accurate, the blue (available) segments of the seating charts on most dates are overwhelmingly larger than the grey (unavailable) ones. However, it is worth noting that three shows were added to the itinerary in Miami, Toronto and her hometown of New York a week after the tour was originally announced.

The album, tour and two films are part of a self-financed $20 million three-part multimedia project examining, as Variety described in a recent cover article, Lopezs life as a serial romantic, regarding her reunion with actor Ben Affleck, whom she married in 2022 nearly two decades after the high-profile superstar couple originally split in the wake of their flop 2003 romantic comedy Gigli.
A rep for the artist did not immediately respond to Varietys request for comment; the cancellation notice reads simply, Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. No action is required to obtain a refund.
The cancellations come after Lopezs new album her first in a decade also titled This Is MeNow, debuted at a disappointing No. 38 on the Billboard 200 last month.

Yeah even though she has been around forever for me since she is in my Gen X group she is like mid 50's at this point and I imagine not much of a celebrity among the younger generation.

Ticket prices are getting a bit out of control lately. I haven't looked at her prices but I bet cheap seats are probably $100 after taxes and ridiculous fees.

She hasnt had a hit song or movie in like 20 years. Her fans are now divorced.

I never followed her musically at all but she hasn't put out any music at all in 10 years. No idea when her last hit was.

For me she was always kept in the spotlight by her films much more than her music but maybe that is just because I never followed her music.

Maybe it's similar to movies and video games. People will pay a premium to watch Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and the nostalgia acts like Blink-182 or whatever but the mid-tier stuff is tough?

Or maybe this issue is specific to J-Lo. Like how many songs does she even have that are hits? What was her last one? Does she have a fanbase who actually care about her music or is she just a celebrity who is famous nowadays?

Apparently the cheap seats are around $60 and this tour is much cheaper than most other acts.

J-Lo also had a completely non-existent online Campaign as well. A lot of celebrities' from GenX generation have found GREAT success by becoming a social media content creators. See: People like Michael Jai White. Hell, I'd argue he's more known than her amongst younger people now.

Even back in her hey day she wasn't known for her music she was known as that chick with the fat butt, I can barely remember what she looked like or any songs of hers but I do remember seeing her name in credits for movies and tv shows alot. I swear the last thing I remember seeing her name in was some trashy tow truck show back when they were all the rage

Yeah these older pop stars have to come to terms with, especially with the cost of things nowadays, they just dont have the cache to get people to pay hundreds of dollars to fill arenas anymore

im looking at the tickets for JTs tour rn and there are entire sections of $215+ tickets where not a single ticket is sold

Matt Stone and Trey Parker had her pegged for decades.

Despite her being very popular in her time, she's not been in the spotlight for a decade at least. Even movies-wise her star presence has been limited. In that time people have also had a generational realization that she's not a great music artist.

Hustlers was a pretty good movie. As I stated before I think she has always been much more noted for her films than her music. Even within the music stuff she was always much more noted for her dancing background and when it came to her music they always mentioned showmanship, sex appeal, and costumes but not so much the actual music.

Like I know they've seen success more than anyone else ever has and they're still incredibly lucky.

But there is a bit of pity seeing someone suddenly be hit with the harsh reality that they're just not popular anymore.

I remember Katy Perry being hit with this about a decade ago too. Nowdays she judges American Idol and sings Menulog commercials. Hell I think even she would still do better than this.

I know some may benefit from the ego check but damn it must be a shitty feeling. There's no way to spin this.
