Selection Sunday is here! The conference tourneys have all ready been amazing! In the SEC tourney the top 3 seeds lost on the same day - Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. NCSU had to win and get in. NCSU went on a 5 day wining streak including wins against Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, and North Carolina. Last time NCSU had to win to get in was when Jimmy V led his team to the National Championship win in '83.

My huskies gonna repeat

As a Raleigh native who's always been a Duke fan and NC State adjacent - lets go Wolfpack.

They ain't gonna win, but I'll still be cheering against Carolina regardless.

Forgot to mention in my first post, but Iowa State embarrassed Houston. Houston is the #1 team in the polls.

Crazy considering Brown/Yale were in another nail bitter game just 8 days ago. Brown won 84-81 in OT.

The Long Beach state is an interesting story. The school informed the coach they werent going to retain him after this season, at a time in which they werent doing well, and then the team proceeds to go a run and get an automatic bid.

Heartbreaker. They were up by 5 with about a minute left too.

I think the Kent State loss was worse than the Brown loss. That was mental and not physical.

I don't have confidence in my Gonzaga team this season. They lost to Saint Mary's in the conference championship, and they'll probably get bounced in the first or second round. Their streak of 9 consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances is going to come to an end, unless they surprisingly play good.

I've been following the MWC for a decade and they're getting absolutely hosed this year. Colorado State as the last team in? Explain how their overall resume is worse than say Creighton, a team they completly walloped.

I have been a Lobo fan for my entire life, since the WAC days, and I have been following Mountain West basketball for the entirety of its 25 year existence. The seeding for the MW teams was absolutely ridiculous. The committee always does that, but this year is particularly egregious. MW teams are absolutely better than a lot of teams seeded above them.

I hope they can win some games and prove the selection committee wrong. But the seeding is not going to make that easy.

Theres no way this is the Lobos first bid in a while. Impossible. I feel like I always see them in the tourney as an early exit?

Anyway, I have them making a run. Somewhere in the Sweet 16 to Elite 8 range

This is the first bid since 2014. Trust me. I have been there for all the heartbreak.

And you are right about those early exits. Lobos have never been to the Sweet 16, and there were some really good teams with future NBA players that lost in there. They came close to advancing past the second round a few times, including a couple last minute losses to Louisville, and that is it.

I really hope you are right that this is the year that changes. I have had the same close group of friends since 4th grade, big Lobo fans all. We used to joke that the Lobos wouldnt make the Sweet 16 before we died. It was funny when we were kids. Now we are old and it isnt quite as amusing anymore.

The seeding is a massive slap in the face, but it might not be too bad. If Boise and CSU win their play-in, all the teams are probably in games they deserve to be in, just as the opposite seed.

I absolutely agree with you-but of course winning those play-ins is a pretty big if.

I actually like the first round match-up for my Lobos. No disrespect to Clemson, but there are few teams coming in as ice cold as they are. This field is full of parity so anything can happen, but I like our chances.

I just dont like the slap in the face for a conference that has earned better.

Projected Brackets I saw had Lobos and Nevada as a 7 or 8. Most common projection for Utah State was as a 6, although I saw as high as 5. Within those ranges seems right to me. And I saw absolutely no one saying Colorado State was the last team in the field, or that either the Rams or Boise State should be in the first four.

I knew the MW was going to get dinged for beating each other up, but this is pretty extreme.
