Is it cheating to look up? in your opinion

just do Guts Man before Elec Man and you're fine (you need Guts Man's weapon to get a required-to-beat-the-game power-up in Elec Man's level)

I always start on Bomb Man personally

i usually go Bomb Man as well

Cut Man or Bomb Man are probably the easiest to start with.

It's not cheating to look up a recommended boss order. It depends on whether you think you'd enjoy figuring out the boss weaknesses on your own or if you'd rather just know upfront.

I do it this way so I have the Magnet Beam for both Ice and Guts Man stages.

I don't think so aside from the name and title screen.

Easy way:

bomb man
guts man
cut man
elec man
ice man
fire man

Bomb man, guts man, fire man and cut man are all relatively easy with your basic buster, and don't do a lot of damage to you. Ice man and elec man can kill you in something like 3 hits, but IIRC you can also kill them in only 3 hits using the weapon they're weak to, so you really need those weapons. All the MM games I've played after that weren't so weird about damage.

Ice Man is slightly easier because the Ice Slasher is easier to dodge, but you really need the Magnet Beam to keep his stage from being maddeningly difficult...

When I was a kid, it took me years to get those platforms, and I was never all that bad at moving platforms in other games.

The platforms at the beginning of Guts Man's stage were the worst. I couldn't get it down until I was in my teens.

I could get through the blocks ok but I could never beat him without the elec weapon, he'd just kill me in like 3 seconds.

The Yoku Blocks aren't the problem, it's those damn randomly moving shooting platforms that, thanks to "mercy invincibility", you fall through if you get hit by anything.

Fuck those things.

I used to have a big problem with the blocks as well, though it took me only a few months to master them.
