two moments in particular (big spoilers):

king vs the monster association

saitama vs garou

in the former, the entire scene goes still and quiet. the very air freezes. king wins the moment by reputation alone. whereas in the manga, no one gives a shit that he's there. then lolgarou does it

and the manga version of the latter demolishes the characterization of both characters involved. i could go on for hours about this

i know i need to learn to set aside the expectations i have for manga to adhere that closely to the web comic. its clear that whatever is going on between ONE and murata, something me-flavored is getting lost in translation. the web comic is still preserving that tho

why would someone whose shirt says "genius at work" etc etc

The manga seems to favor spectacle, absurd feats, and raising the power ceiling over story and characterizations for the most part. Idk if Maybe its trying to appeal more to a mainstream audience, or if thats just the a creators preference but I dislike the direction they took the manga.

Not sure who the anime will follow but it'll likely be more the manga sadly.

I like the One Punch Man manga. It's a great shonen superpower series with some humor. But it's never going to hit the peaks the comic did.

Yeah Saitama giving Garou the verbal smackdown was just peak. I dont know wtf they were going for in the manga.

its just...im not gonna be arrogant enough to say i know better about ONEs characters than he does, but i definitely prefer the original way. its a fight of philosophy. we need to see garou lose heart as the fight goes on, but lash out anyway. until...
