Immediately yes, I'm reminded of the character of the people I've previously known with those features. And then I realize that's not fair and I shouldn't judge the book by its cover. But my first reaction is to categorize that person into the same group as other people I've seen who looked the same. Just as you do when you see someone wearing a suit in a place you don't normally, you think, "maybe they're an important person."

It's normal to judge, perfectly human. Everyone does it and I don't believe you if you deny it. Say you walk by somebody who stinks and looks filthy, you judge them for that. Nobody just gives every single person the benefit of the doubt for every situation. "Oh I'm sure they just, like, accidentally fell in a manhole on the way to work today. Or their water got shut off." No, you make assumptions about their lifestyle.

You see a homeless person and you assume things went poorly for them in some way. Then you wonder why they didn't try hard enough to get off the streets. That's judging too. And for all we know that person could've been incredibly unlucky with hidden disabilities and without the mental capacity to get help for it or something.

Honestly, this is why I leaned far more into piercings than tats when I was younger. I knew (for me) it likely wasn't something I'd want to wear for the rest of my life. I wound up with about a dozen piercings and one tattoo. By the time I was in my late twenties I had taken out all the jewelry. Got one other tattoo in my 30's (a memorial piece) and still plan to eventually get a cover up for my first ink because it's kinda meaningless to me now. Always kept the tattoos where they would be covered by clothing under normal circumstances, too.

None of those things are permanent. Both the hair dye and holes from the piercings will go away with time and, tattoos have been removable via various methods for longer then I've been alive.
