Newer anime episodes apparently don't even cover a full chapter of the manga anymore (most anime adaptations of weekly manga usually cover two chapters per episode), as they drag out thing a lot and there are tons of flashbacks to even things that just happened, I've read.

Incidentally, there is a cool AMV that uses the live action song for it.

Read the manga, I cant imagine making the time commitment for the anime. You can read manga soooo much faster than you can watch anime
Try to find the Viz translation, the fan translations Ive found so far were terrible. Music video, not animated, since it uses the live action series. And the Japanese version of a song from said live series.
Its actually a pretty good song in both Japanese and English, though you may only have heard the English one. Edit: The one with the spoiler tag from the later post is from the anime. It uses the English version of the song, but uses scenes from the latest animated arc in the anime. Yea, I enjoyed it as well.
I just cannot get into the OP art style, so I've never made it past episode 3 or so. That and the ridiculous amount of episodes makes me a prime candidate for the Live Action, or a Kai --- Cookin like a chef, I'm a 5 Star Michelin ... Copied to Clipboard!

I get where you are coming from. The live action is... a lot different looking from the anime a lot of the time. But you can tell they tried as best they can.
