My loved ones are gone. Nothing to it? I'm not afraid or bothered by death being the end. It simply is. What's so scary about oblivion?

I'm not scared by death because I do believe in an afterlife.

The same reason they are bothered when Netflix cancels a show they like after two seasons.

I'm not sure it's any less incomprehensible than eternal consciousness. We've at least all been nothing before.

The concept of the afterlife is the carrot, to the near-endless drudgery of the real life stick.

I believe in an afterlife, it's not like I have anything to lose by being wrong.

also, consciousness is weird so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot more to it than what we currently understand.

I find it the most comforting choice of "after lives" tbh. It's better than some people suffering for all eternity. Very few people actually deserve a fate like that.

If you turned 18, and were never promised a big fat trust fund check for a million dollars, and as follows you don't get the million dollar check - so what?

The problem with an afterlife is that it makes life here on Earth meaningless. You're telling me there is a perfect paradise outside of this reality? Why can't I just start there from the beginning? Why put a carrot in front of me?

The opposite bothers me personally. I'm fucking tired and in pain man. I haven't even lived that long and I'm just so done with all this bs. Much like some people have to believe death isn't the end just to get through their lives, I have to believe that death is the end because I'd go insane otherwise. (Note to mods, not suicidal)

To me death is like a well deserved nap after a long day at work fam. I don't wanna suffer anymore.

How else will those political church leaders get you to conform to their behaviors and follow their laws for better and worse unless they can manipulate you through fear?

Fear of the eternal human torture and suffering dimension, or fear of losing a utopian afterlife. Then they made up Pascal's Wager to convince the budding anti-religious attitudes of the enlightenment to keep pretending anyway and fool good into not torturing you for eternity for the finite crimes of your earthly existence.

people fear not existing. Also its just lame to know I will miss out on all the stuff that will happen after I die. So many video games and movies and comics I will never experience. And I won't see if humans ever become like Star Trek

If my life was infinite I probably would hate life after the third life but if it wasn't I'd be devastated that I'd miss out on generations of technology gains like what if in 120 years there was some super immersive game or piece of technology like idfk vr world that makes things so good

You can't miss what you've never had. You only think you do because what you miss is possibility. But even that is limited within one human lifespan and limited further by your circumstances. There's a lot of good games presently, you're never gonna play them all. It's pointless thinking about games that come out way after your lifespan if you can't even handle the ones within it. Besides the world could get fucked after you die and then you'd be glad you weren't there for that but you're dead so you can't feel anything about it. Heck the world is fucked as we speak.

Exactly fam. Now, sex bots, that'd be a future worth living for. But people are too terrified by AI even though it's clearly more horny than it's murder-y so I think it won't happen for a very long time and I don't trust people not to destroy themselves way before that point. But our prior experience as nothing came before we lived our life. Going from life as we know it now back to non-existence isnt really comprehensible to me tbh.

I know it will happen, but its hard for me to grasp what non-existence is.
