Figured I should make a topic since we've had a few HD2 topics pop up recently and I've seen quite a few CEmen very engorged in the game.

If anyone needs a PS5 squadie (although I think it's cross play with PC?), my PSN is ECKSTRA_THICC. I'm not the best player but I'm level 23 so I have the gear to help a tiny bit lol

I'm on PC. There is crossplay but PC players have to make and link a PSN account to enable it. I haven't bothered doing the link, so no crossplay for me.

I'm level 19 and a half. Should get 20 tonight. Been saving req so I can snag rail cannon immediately, hopefully railgun too.

Rail Gun is mad useful for anything armored. Gave me the confidence to take Chargers head on and neutralize them quickly...unless it's night time cuz my eyesight sucks ass lol

I also highly recommend the shield backpack. Super game changer against robots and even against insects, they swarm you and puts you within blasting radius of mortar sentries. The shield really helps you survive against friendly fire lol

That's my planned #3 purchase. I doubt I'll have enough req saved to get all 3 as soon as I hit 20, though.

Mortars are great weapons as well. I now bring one on almost any mission. I'm a sucker for the orbital strikes though, so I generally bring 3 of them and a mortar.

I call it "America Simulator" cause I'm just tossing ordinance all over like it's going out of style.

I hesitate with mortars on bugs. They'll run up on people and then your teammates get popped with the bugs. Great for automatons though.

The walking barrage is good cause they are some serious shells that get dropped, and the INTENTION is that they walk AWAY from you. But the first one or two are so far behind where you toss it, you just don't understand the range and end up in the cross fire. It is very useful for larger bases as it just slowly sends managed democracy straight ahead.

Game is fun, I can see the end of the tunnel after like 20 hours or so as far as how thin the content is. But the loop is engaging, the combat is great (I prefer bugs over terminators, though.) and the maps are a nice enough variety.

Wish it had more from the first game. Looking forward to Galactic War 2.0 with the missing features, plus apc's, mechs, and the missing guns.

Haha I know. I have a nicer looking +2 nades medium armor but I like the speed lighter armor provides. Also because armor is glitched currently and it doesn't matter what weight you're wearing

Armor as a stat is weird in this game. You can see the effects in that you can take a hit at max health and your health doesn't go down. I feel like this glitch would've been easier to spot and the armor stat would feel more impactful if they overcharged your health meter based on the armor you have left.

In other news, got 20 last night. The good news is that I was surprised to see all the new toys I wanted were only 10k each, so I was able to pick up all of them. The bad news is that I wasn't able to play with them yet.

Motherfucker....I was saving up for it, now it's not as good? Any idea what a great substitute would be? Be using the expendable AT a lot, and the recoilless rifle

Railgun was simply crazy.

Go unsafe and be effective against everything that's above common enemiy.

A lot of ammo, short reload times, no problems with accuracy or range, no problems with enemy armor, crazy damage, backpack slot still free,

Shoot, run, reload while running, shoot again.

When the railgun is as good at dealing with charger armor as rocket launchers, then there is something wrong with it.

And it's not like that chargers don't have an obvious weakpoint. If I have no option of killing them from the front, than someone will have to attack them from behind. It may also give me a reason to try to impact grenades again.

People say "don't nerv stuff, just buff the others!" but how? The issue of the railgun was that it had peak performance in every metric except crowd damage, with not a single downside.

You would have to buff the recoilless to mini-nuke level able to oneshot chargers to buff it on railgun levels, justifying the squadreload and limited ammo it has compared to the gun.

Just give railgun it's stun back from the first game. It was already nerfed from a primary to a support stratagem.
Tanks in 1, the chargers ancestor, died from 1 rocket so expecting to see more RR, EAT-17s, Spears, or Autocannons in the field

I was headshotting Bile titans with the railgun yesterday it felt like a gun that was supposed to feel powerful. Hope it didn't get nerfed too bad. Also the breakers didn't need a nerf, the other primaries needed buffs.

I think you can customize that in the settings. PS5's controller customization was bugged the fuck out for a while, not sure if it still is. Try it and if something bugs out immediately reset your controls before exiting the menu or else it's a whole thing to get them to reset.

Yeah, I'm going to test flamethrower and laser cannon myself more too. Laser cannon on cold planets is something I want to use for real.

And the 380mm barrage. Already told my buddies that they are going to get hit by some friendly democratic fire.

But I expect that I will move from the railgun to the autocannon in the long run.

EAT is alright. Single use and I feel like I have shit aim with it compared to the railgun lol. Also I keep hearing people say I can squash a Charger by throwing the deploy beacon of the EAT onto it but...twice I've tried and it never sticks to the Charger. One was literally motionless and the beacon literally bounced off it lol.

Laser Cannon is alright. I just don't like the lack of mobility with it. But I like how it has infinite ammo.

Arc thrower. Eh. Can't really tell how powerful it is. It just doesn't FEEL powerful even at max charge. Stuff like that bugs me <__<

I also finally tried the orbital rail cannon. It's cool for taking down a big baddie. But that's the catch. Takes down 1 big baddie then goes on cool down for three and a half minutes. Doesn't help when you're being swarmed by like 10 Chargers and Bile Titans at once lol

To get the beacons to stick, you have to hit it somewhere that isn't covered in armor. Either the ass, or one of the legs after you blow the armor off.

EAT can also destroy the bot dropships if you hit one of the engines.

i think i'm getting trolled in game. i join up in quickplay, we do all the objectives and side missions, then right as we're getting to the extraction zone i just get a connection error. i think it's on purpose since i see what i think is the host stop and look at their arm, then get kicked. happened multiple times. i lost a bunch of samples this way
