Bacteria are significantly more successful than insects.

Insects may be the most successful form of *multicellular* life.

Why is success defined by number of creatures reproduced? Seems like a very arbitrary metric especially in light of different survival strategies and habitation zones. Not that any metric of success would be objective or very meaningful

Birds are the most successful. They can fly, live anywhere, got Humans to feed and protect most of their species, and even got some to deny their existence.

The bugs and bacteria are surviving...but are they truly living? They can't appreciate booze or chips or a relaxing afternoon poolside in the warm breeze. I think we're winning.
