Darth vader is still being rebuilt. Yoda is equal to or stronger than palpatine. They can both manhandle clone legions. Even if vader was ready, obi wan has shown in episode 3 and the show that he can beat vader comfortably. There should be no inquisitors around to deal with

Bonus just needed to get a hold of ahsoka, baylan should be around, the guy who did the voice of jar jar

Had Anakin confided in Padme that Palpatine was Sidious he likely would have never turned in the first place.

They probably could have beat the Emperor if they just initially teamed up against him instead of Yoda going after Palpatine by himself and Obi Wan dealing with Anakin on Mustafar by himself.

Every prequel ever made always gets bogged down by "But why didn't they do this obvious thing that could have avoided the whole plot of the main story?"

I mean the Star Wars prequels though have some pretty thick areas of plot armor. I mean worse than Batman vs Superman levels of oh jesus christ, you expect us to believe that? Like even if we knew how it was supposed to end, the fact that the Jedi Council gets conveniently separated just as they are in the process of hunting down the source of all their troubles, youd think theyd have been able to tell the Wookies and Utapau to fuck off for a little while longer, or better yet, send the one guy they didnt trust as far away as possible, or just keep him close to the one guy who actually seems to be able to reel him in.

Like they didnt know Anakin was married. Or that when he was having nightmares, Yoda should have remembered the last time that happened. Its literally mountains of plot armor in those three.

Fuck the prequels.

3 years.

3 fucking years Anakin was married to Padme. And not ONCE did the Jedi even for a moment get a whiff of this. Absolutely everyone in the prequels except for Palpatine is just chugging that stupid juice on a regular basis.

As for the premise of the topic, the novelization made it more clear that Yoda couldn't defeat Palpatine...or what the Sith had become. The Sith had evolved, the Jedi hadn't.

Also, 2+ on 1 never has really worked out in lightsaber duels. Obi Wan would have likely gotten in the way of Yoda and could have easily been tossed around with the force like Palpatine does to Maul in the Clone Wars series. Furthermore, how did 4 on 1 work out when the "1" was Palpatine and the 4 led by Mace came to arrest him?

Obi Wan knew something was going on based on the Clone Wars series, but never really dug into what their relationship actually was like.

Even ignoring that and just going off the movies, a galactic war was going on, and considering Anakin was on the front-lines for almost all of it, Anakin rarely had time to see Padme anyway, so the few times he got back to Coruscant weren't much to go off of. It makes sense.

Also this. Things had to ultimately result in Palpatine turning the Republic into the Empire, Anakin turning into Vader, Padme's absence in the original trilogy being accounted for (as in she dies so her kids don't know who she is), and the Jedi Order being destroyed (Order 66).

If anyone's interested though, you should look into deleted scenes for Episode 3 and/or the novelization of the movie. Anakin's fall and dislike of the Jedi makes more sense with them included. A pity we never got an Extended Cut of that movie, as it really could use it. At least the novelization exists, which has all of the cut content included and probably is the "definite" way to experience the movie's events.

They were all Jedi Masters on the High Council, so they were all really skilled. Specifically they were...
Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto

This article goes over them a bit.
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/profile/shootingnova/blog/were-the-jedi-masters-who-accompanied-mace-windu-i/97334/

Some details...

Kolar has received an accolade as one of the most skilled bladesbeings the Jedi Order had ever produced, like Windu. In fact, based off the wording alone, it's hardly implausible to suggest that the sentence implies them to be peers in combative adroitness.

In fact, Obi-Wan Kenobi suggested that Tiin as among the most skilled swordsmen the Order had ever produced, which would be on par with Agen Kolar's accolade:

As for Kit Fisto, he defeated General Grievous in the Clone Wars and only died to Palpatine's blade in the novelization due to being distracted by Anakin's arrival.

So they were all exceptionally powerful Jedi in their own right. The movie doesn't really do them justice though with how quickly Sidious defeats them. Element of Surprise + Erratic Movements + A Force Scream quickly kill two of them before they get to do anything.
