of course. there's no such thing as winning the fight for your rights. all you can do is push back the point they're inevitably taken away by invested persons with the power/influence to crush you.

i'm seeing it more and more, every day. little by little. they're just taking, and taking, and taking. and we have less, and less, and less.

Last September the Biden FCC announced it was planning to restore net neutrality rules stripped away during the Trump administration amidst a lot of bullshit and fraud. It, of course, didnt take long for the telecom industry, with GOP allies in lockstep, to whine to the FCC in writing about how imposing baseline oversight of giant telecom monopolies is unlawful.
Another reason to vote for Biden over Trump.

Reminds me of a comment I saw when it was Trump vs. Clinton:

"Imagine you're on a plane and the flight attendant comes by, saying 'Our meal choices are between chicken breast, or a shit sandwich with pieces of broken glass mixed in.' To be undecided in this election is like pausing then asking how the chicken is cooked."

The best thing that came out of Net Neutrality ending was that a lot of states passed their own versions.

This is going to be one of those things that changes every time the sitting president changes parties.

Reddit wouldn't shut up about this years ago but nothing seemed to change. When am I going to be charged to visit each individual site?

With how much money is being squeezed due to modern capitalism and we have subscriptions to using cars and printers, expect in a few years. Say hello to 29.99 a month to visit Gamefaqs, Reddit, or Discord on top of a 19.99 subscription to view sites like Youtube or Wikipedia.

That's not exactly how it will work. ISP's go to Netflix and say, hey you are using too much of our bandwidth, pay us more or we throttle you. Either Netflix pays or your experience gets worse, and if Netflix does pay then guess what happens to subscription prices.

We are a long way from every website having a subscription fee, but it is where the road eventually leads. For now it is just anything that becomes really popular with high bandwidth usage that will have the ISP's lean on them for extra money.

Most important thing for corpo's in this situation is to boil the frog slowly so you don't notice until it is too late, think about how micro-transactions and battle passes for live service games have crept into the gaming industry.

Subscriptions for printers I believe is a misconception based on the fact that businesses will often hire them for convenience (since they get serviced/replaced automatically). People mistake this for were all being /going to be forced to rent our printers!

Granted, the idea isnt completely absurd. Remember when Microsoft Office was just one and done instead of a subscription? People were just sticking to their old version (which worked fine) and obviously Micro$oft didnt like that.
