I've played it a few times, the story mode at least twice with a friend and one time solo. I just don't get where the hate comes from, it's very, very fun. The only complaints I had didn't really significantly change my experience with the gameplay.

Can anyone offer me some insight? I'm thinking about revisiting the game at some point.

Heard the gameplay loop wasnt much. A lot of the same mission types until the end of the game type of thing.

Best game of 2022, I don't get where all the hate comes from either. Maybe gamers are really dumb stupid dummies.

I found the story related missions had a lot of variety, it's just the overworld crime missions that could get repetitive. Though I had no issue with that because the combat was fun. It felt no different from the Arkham games where you'd run into the same fights a lot of the time if you went along the same routes tbh.

I think it not being part of the Arkham universe turned a lot of people off from it. Which is a shame cause it was a perfectly fine game. Nothing super duper groundbreaking but it was fun.

Personally, I liked the game but found out I was playing it wrong for a good bit at the beginning.

I didn't know switching between characters was a big part of it. Would have gone the entire game just playing as one knight.

As a Superman mark, you would think something where Batman gets 'got' would be among my top ten. I'm secretly waiting for DC comics to pull a narrative like this for Supes (but with Shazam and Supergirl among the Metropolis Knights).

Nightwing is my favorite DC character so I had a blast with it, especially with the Jim Lee comic outfit. I played both solo and with my friend and she used Batgirl and we had a lot of fun. Been too busy with other games but I do plan on eventually playing it again with Robin, Red Hood and Batgirl.

Yeah, it was a good game. Not like...a transcendent experience like Arkham City but fun and good and even better co-op. They should have made it connected to Arkham instead of SSKTJL tbh.

Wait, playing as one character wasn't the way to go? I've done that every playthrough and had plenty of fun and no issues lol. Though I have tried everyone at least once, I'd mostly stick to one character.

Also...why would you hate Batman as a Superman fan? Both are fantastic!

I did it as Jason and Batgirl, switched to Dick and Tim every once in awhile when I felt like it. Was very fun either way. Had a blast.

Ive put I think at least 20 hours into the game so I think I can weigh in on it:

The main gameplay loop is very, very repetitive. There are a bit more than a dozen types of crime activities for you to stop, which seems like a fair amount at first, but you tend to stop between 6-10 crimes every single gameplay loop, so they tend to get stale fast.

Each of the characters having different strengths and play styles is nice, they all feel unique and suited for different things. But the controls sometimes feel clunky, and definitely not as fluid as the Arkham games.

The story is alright? Ill reserve judgment since I havent bothered to finish the game yet. The story missions themselves are fun enough, though. Its just the getting to them via the standard got out for a night on patrol gameplay loop becomes a slog.

I think honestly its a fine game, it just feels very games as a service at times and that rubs people the wrong way, especially when we have the Arkham series to look back on for comparison.

I enjoying have about I think thirty hours with Tim and enjoying his gameplay, yea the normal missions are reptive but I just think that like always in Gotham you get a bunch of normal crimes, and then that clayface/poison ivy/etc. Wish they had something where they would escape and you had to track them down in different missions would have added another thirty hours for me, but will go back to playing it sometime soon.

Don't exactly hate Batman but prefer Superman more (as I'd tell people in real life) because he is bulletproof. I mostly dislike the logic in Batman because of what I've seen real life inner city gangs (and mobsters) do.

That's a fair opinion. Though I never got a GAAS feel from it. No ads for MTX or anything similar to that.

As someone that didn't like God of War Ragnarok or Elden Ring, I'd agree with him. It's between this and Arceus. 2022 wasn't a great year for games imho. 2023 though...

What makes it stupid? That it's multi-player? Or is there something else that makes it stupid, thus it's stupid, and then it's multi-player as an additional piece of info?

It was made by the same team that made Arkham Origin and it looked significantly worse than Arkham Knight which came out like 7 years prior.

I liked it, but it most definitely felt like a watered down Arkham game. I wish this had been what Rocksteady had been working on instead of Suicide Squad.

Batgirl's traversal ability, for example, is gliding like Batman. However, the gliding in this game is inferior to what we had in City, Origins, and Knight. Red Hood's traversal was clunky as hell, and Robin's teleporting was just annoying to use; Nightwing had the best, since he could fly with it.

We should've had more side-missions dealing with more villains, too. The main story has the Court of Owls, the League of Assassins, and Man-Bat(s). The side-missions had Clayface, Harley, and Mr. Freeze. That's it. No Riddler, Poison Ivy, Mad Hatter, Bane, Killer Croc, and so on. Batman has one of the biggest and best list of villains out there, and we barely get a fraction of them.

I also wish we didn't have to go back to the clocktower every single time to switch characters. We should've had the ability to switch at will, even have the ones you're not playing as help you in combat, or run into them every once in a while when traversing the city, like we got in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
