Fuck no.

My parents were non-religious and on the liberal side, so they didn't really try and control my life or restrict me from doing and experiencing things. (within reason of course)

Growing up I was always allowed to listen to whatever music I wanted, dress and decorate my room how I wanted, hang out with whoever I wanted etc.

Thankfully, no. My parents are atheists and didn't talk about religion at all. My main exposure to it was through cartoons and fiction (I completely missed Narnia being a christian allegory until I was older), and it didn't really click how seriously people took it until I talked to my very religious cousin when I was a teen

My step father began taking us to a Jehovah's Witness church. It was awful. And they made me go door to door in the town where I went to school so I had to see people I know trying to hand out magazines and recruit. Should have been considered child abuse.

No, thankfully. I was baptized when I was in 6th grade and made to attend some Saturday Catholic bible study 3h sessions, far enough down the line to avoid being indoctrinated. My parents are divorced but are now very religious and regret not having raised me that way. Dodged a bullet there.

I am immensely grateful that despite both being Catholic, my parents chose not to force religion upon me so that I could make my own choice.

My parents used to hate gay people on the basis that its unatural and God doesnt approve.

Im pretty that if there was a God, he wouldnt be keen on people selling class A drugs to children either, even if he forgot to write that one down, but that didnt stop them.

Yes my mom was extremely Catholic. Even tried to stop me from listening to rock music on the radio. Then ther was the time some sitcom I was watching had a sex ed episode or some such, she walked in during it and flipped the fuck out.

And she wonders why I dont want to hang out with her in my adult years. She tries to guilt me but she no longer has any power over me.

My mom took us to church but my dad never went. We stopped going entirely when I was in middle school. No one ever cared about it.

We went to church for the first 7 or 8 years of my life, and just sort of stopped. My mom grew up in a family of Baptist preachers, but my mom and dad were never as strict about it as them.

But then my aunt went through a goth phase, and my mom freaked out and went weirdly fundamentalist. She started calling everything evil out of the blue, and wouldn't let me watch anything with dragons or demons. This lasted only a year, and she went back to relatively normal.

In hindsight, I think she started losing her faith in religion while falling out with the older members of her hateful family, and that was sort of her reaction to it. Now she can't stand organized religion, and leans harder left than she did when I was a kid.

Yep. It's something bored middle-aged people with no hobbies like to pick up to fill in the void. They always been Catholic, but paid little attention to it like the average religious American. But now it's a bigger part of their lives.

My parents were on and off about it. We'd be like frequent church goers (Wednesday nights, Sunday morning/night) for a few years and then not go for a few years. I hated church but liked the places we'd eat at afterward so I didn't mind too much.

Religious, but not extremely. When I was a kid we would go to church every Sunday, I had to go to Sunday school for a few years. We said a prayer at Thanksgiving dinner, but not nightly or any thing.

Eventually we just had too much going on to go to church every week, which was great because I'm an atheist. My dad still doesn't know that, or maybe he has figured it out but we never discuss it.

A very Religious Family yes.
In the home, it was always there but never pushed.

But ya, half of my family was very Roman Catholic.
My Grand Grandmother, who I knew was actually from Italy.
My second Cousin was a well-regarded Priest.

My Mothers's side was Scottish and Polish and completely outnumbered.

I am glad I was raised that way.

Ahhh, it was one of the backdrops to my upbringing.
But no, I don't push it in any way, except to show decency towards others.
I would say I am spiritual though.

I listen to a ton of Christian Music, but that has more to do with the composer.

It is funny though, People who were raised Catholic can smell in on each other, and I kinda like that.

I'm not. As far as every view they have I don't know (other than being anti-abortion). I just know they now actually go to church a few times a week including Sundays and reference God more frequently in their messages.

Not really.

I mean my mom is religious and grandparents are definitely. And when I was very little, if I remember correctly around 10 or a little before that they put in in evening Bible classes at the church. After a week I remember telling my mom I didn't see the point in me going and she respected my wishes and withdrew me.

We were never forced to go to church, or go to other classes, or to pray or anything. When I was older and I told my mom I was an atheist, she kinda shrugged and was basically like " ok. We'll respect each other's beliefs and we'll leave it at that"

Nah but my neighbors were. I remember the son wanted to play mortal kombat really bad so I brought it over. And then dad came in and wanted to talk to me about the devil and sorcery and stuff. Then another day I was over and we was watching the simpsons and the mom got mad. So I wasn't allowed over anymore.

My dad is a Christian in the sense that he believes in God, but it was never really talked about and we didn't go to church. In my early teens I stopped believing in anything like that.
