As hard as they can be without becoming straight up unfair. Make me work for it, please.

At this point, I just want to chill out and have fun. Mild puzzling is OK.

As long as there aren't any spikes. I don't have time/patience to "git good" out of nowhere.

It used to be the extreme difficult answer, now?

I should die occasionally, like nobody really cares about this type of stuff (at least imo)

Ive never had much tolerance for losing, and that feels even more true now that Im older and dont have as much time for gaming. After a long day at work, it feels shitty to just come home and take Ls in what is supposed to be a pleasurable activity. Once in a while Ill be in the mood for something highly challenging, but most of the time I just want enough challenge to keep things interesting.

Just wrapping up MegaMan X3. It's a lot easier than 2 IMO and I'm not enjoying myself as much.

Yeah.

I'm somewhere between the first and second options.

difficult enough that you can beat the game without having to grind, and the bosses/enemies are able to be beaten through some level of strategy.

can't stand grinding. that's one thing I do like about souls games because you have the option to grind either levels or weapon upgrades, or you can learn the movements of the boss and beat it a bit more strategically.

if it's a game involving puzzles, I like the puzzles to be difficult on the surface, but then you get an "aha!" moment and it turns out the solution was pretty simple, all that was required was a different approach to solving it.

I want there to be difficulty sliders for every aspect of the game so I can choose the exact experience I want.

I enjoy a mix of both. Challenge should always be compensated by less bullshit. I shouldn't have to go through a slow death sequence, long loading screens, and stupid cutscenes to retry a challenge or fight *cough* Darksouls *cough cough*

I dont want to get frustrated to the point I stop playing, but having no challenge at all is pretty lame. It can be a tough balance, especially considering different people have different skill levels.

Kind of depends on the genre for me. Melee action combat like Dark Souls? Give me the 3rd option. First/Third person shooter like Mass Effect or Cyberpunk? I turned that down to easy.

Unless its a puzzle game, only a bit of a challenge I'm cool with.

I don't have all hours of the day to grind levels, or study shit like frame data or advanced guides.

For the most part I jist want to play the game and relax.

I'm fine with most difficulties, so long as it doesn't feel like the foundation of the challenge is simply 'trial & error' or painstakingly grinding resources/skills/etc, just to stand a reasonable chance.

generally I rule that as long as the game is not consistently beatable by sleepwalking, or requires you to abuse something just to have a shot at winning (the latter applies even, or perhaps especially on the highest difficulty; there should always be, in RPGs or strategy games especially, multiple ways to approach challenges), the difficulty is probably fine

Hard enough to forcing me to put all my focus on it, as well as making me think about the nest approach, but forgiving enough to not punish every single mistake, or for using some sub-optimal build. Last one is probably more of a balance issue, and that's a big problem many times.

Some nice challenge is fine, but I really hate it to look up some guides or builds online because I hit some wall. Bonus points if the "guide" is something like "how to survive boss ultimate move X on ultra hard: Nuke him before he uses it" or "Here is a tier list <everything that looks fun is trash>"

I shouldn't win easily but I shouldn't lose. I don't have time to learn the game when there's more games to play.

I prefer games to be on the easier side these days. I'll usually play on normal or sometimes easy/story mode.

I play games to relax and enjoy the story, characters and world. I don't really have the patience to deal with hard games where I die over and over. Especially these days when I've got such a big backlog of other games that I could be playing.

Well, I got every achievement in Elden Ring, and never got past the tutorial in Sekiro.

So Elden Ring is a pretty good example of how difficult I want my games. I need different ways to overcome challenge, but I dont care if I have to work for it.

I also soloed Halos 1 2 and 3 on Legendary, but Halo 4 can fuck off with those robot enemies. Shotgunning flood was so much easier, as tedious as it was.

A step below dark souls difficulty would be fine. Don't need to bash my head against the wall but I also don't want to feel patronized like modern Mario games do.
