debating if I should blow $1000+ on these Kobe grinchs

Probably like $60 or so? I dont remember. I tend to wear the same pair for years on end.

I think my waterproof boots were like $150 in 2018.

$180-220. Don't remember specifically. pair of UnderArmor running shoes I wore for years and several thousand miles.

200-250 when I get new soccer boots.

Probably like 40-60 on normal shoes since I tend to just wear sandals/flip flops/slides/whatever you want to call them.

I had some custom shoes done in Italy for about $1750 a few years ago.

About 700 for formal shoes.

350 for less formal ones.

$80 for work boots

They're steel-toed water resistant and electric resistant.

If you pay more than that you probably need your taxes increased imo

I havent bit the bullet on New Rocks. I have wide feet and. Tried a pair on, so Ive been hesitant to buy considering when factoring being unsure if my feet will fit combined with the price.

Ive spent a bit over 200 on a pair of All Saints boots. My current pair of Doc Martens might also have crossed the 200 dollar line.

So I looked up these Kobe Grinch's, could someone explain to me why they're so expensive? Is it purely name recognition/branding? Because they're not ugly or anything, but I don't get where the $1139 price tag comes in.

In that Trump Sneaker's threads people were posting some ugly ass shoes that I'm sure cost a lot of money.

Meanwhile compared to say jewelry, it's hard to think that the more expensive it gets the uglier/more nonsensical it gets.

Like, even with these Grinch's, the only appeal I see that sets it apart from a normal pair of Nike's is that it is a lime green and looks like it has scales. Does that justify a $1139 price tag? If you spent 1139 on jewelry the product would more accurately reflect the cost.

Id find some shoes you dont wear or dont wear much at all and trade them. Thats what I did for my Grinchs. Absolutely love them and love having them in the collection.

Im not denying that theres some expensive, yet terrible, products out there, shoes or otherwise. Theres also some really nice stuff which is pricey.

But my point is, what puts the value into the shoes at all? Because Sneakerheads are willing to pay that much? Branding such as in this case cause of Kobe? Rarity/supply? Material that comes from hard to reach places such as the Amazon or Mariana Trench?

I just don't get where the value comes from.

Pretty much Sneakerheads. Same as collectible cards or action figures or even rare old videos games or whatnot.

Also rarity/supply but in general it's the Sneakerheads driving up the hype
