Manhaving to do all these Chocobo races for this last quest. Not a fan.

So they didn't keep the infinite stamina trick from the original game in Rebirth? That's unfortunate.

The mechanics are different, theres no stamina meter or anything in Rebirth. Its very Mario Kart-ish now. Which is good in one aspect because it doesnt control like ass anymore. But I still dont think its that fun.

Xenoblade 2 "I love you...and all you guys!" caused me physical pain.

Xenoblade 3 I mean I guess the man meant what he said, but still.

Chocobo Racing was one of my favorite side quests. I liked it a lot for most of the game, and though the last few races are a bit too long, you don't have to do all of them for the side quest anyway.

Yeah, the length is what really kills me. And for the Cant Stop Wont Stop quest, you basically cant make a single mistake. Im so fatigued with mini games at this point I think Im just going to leave it unfinished.

Ah, I didn't do that particular quest. I hate 3D Brawler so it didn't feel worth it to me.

I left both the Party Animal and Final protorelic quest for postgame. Any incomplete green quests will be reset though, so if you like did the Colosseum part of Party Animal already, you'll have to do it again.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Chapter 7 complete!

The Yuffie section was pretty fun, especially once you got the grappling hook (and it's cool Cloud can use it now). I didn't change the track on the mine cart ride, so we did the big jump. That was fun.

Corel was pretty good. I liked the stuff with the doctor who saved Tifa's life and how he's studying the black robed guys. We did a sidequest involving a black robed guy getting kidnapped, and we tracked them down with a device that could make their sweat residue visible. Ah, science! I can't remember the name of the duo who was behind the kidnapping, but I have a feeling we'll see them again.

After Barret shares the backstory of what happened to Corel and why the people blame him for it, we're off to the Gold Saucer, which is flashier than ever. I lost the weird wrestling match thing against Dio, but I was kinda disappointed there was no option for a rematch. I assume you get a bonus for winning other than Red XIII's respect.

Cloud and Barret aren't down for having fun, so we head off to the Haunted Hotel (not sure how this is supposed to be a restful experience), and we officially meet Cait Sith! He helps us get rooms and offers to tell us our fortunes.

The first fortune says a last minute twist may surprise us, so maybe Aerith lives...? But the last fortune is similar to the one from the original game that says Cloud will lose what he cherishes most, so we'll see...!

That's a bit into chapter 8 as well IIRC! Did Dio give you the golden passport regerdless? Because I think that's all you get other than improve your relationship with Red.

You do get something good from the last one and if you dislike it it can be pause cheesed anyway.

Yeah, we got the golden pass anyway.

Alright, the protorelic quest line was worth finishing out. The last battle was a lot of fun.

I came up just short of the third tier prize for the Speed Square on my first try, so I had to do it again and easily cleared it. Felt like a much less hectic Gummi Ship sequence!

3D Brawler would be more fun if it were easier to attack instead of just waiting for the one exact moment I can hit them.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Chapter 8 complete!

The Barret/Dyne storyline was one of my favorites from the original game, so I was curious to see how they'd handle it here. Overall, it was pretty good! I wish they hadn't changed Dyne's death to a suicide by cop, and I felt a little disappointed there wasn't some version of Barret's line, "My hands ain't any cleaner" when Dyne says he can't carry Marlene with all this blood on his hands. Still, the story had some emotional weight, and I appreciated that. Speaking of weight, I also enjoyed the seeming homage to Cowboy Bebop when Dyne told Barret to "carry that weight."

Now we've got the buggy and Cait Sith in the party! Next up is Gongaga...once we finish with this gigantic map. This one feels noticeably bigger than the previous two, but maybe it's my imagination.

Rebirth beated.

Hmm.

I was assured Rebirth's ending was not as bad as a plot leak user SaveEstelle found and shared with me, so I think I'll be mostly okay with it knowing I feared it would be much worse.

I will share those details once I beat the game.

I didnt think it was any worse than Remakes ending. So if you were okay with that, you should be okay with this.

I didn't think it was great, but I didn't think it was terrible either, so yeah, I'll probably be fine with it.

Remake's ending was much worse than Rebirth's imo.

Hollow is a much better song than Rebirths ending song imo

I will say that I really have the urge to play the original FF7 now. Might grab the Switch one.

I like exploring in Gongaga, because it doesn't feel as empty.

Some sales stuff about a video game, which game? Who knows, I couldn't possibly be specific, but the sales stuff, what ever game I'm talking about, the data is there, and Data is seldom mistaken in Star Trek or reality. I guess you could say that there's a game with a commercial performance atm that I might say "yeah, that data is likely true, too." Again, I don't know what game I'm referencing, and neither do you. But if it was a game making a big splash in media, that might be the one I'm referencing - who is to say? I simply don't have an answer, I couldn't realistically say that I do.

Anyway, Gongaga's music gets SO DAMN GOOD when you find half the towers, too. I stared at my TV in awe. Love love love it. Rebirth's OST is ridiculously damn strong.

I had this feeling that the world map music changes a bit the more towers you find, but I wasn't sure. It actually works like that?

I honestly dont think Id be losing all that much at this point if the site caved in. This and the HSR topic are the only ones I even post in anymore. The site was important to me for a good chunk of my life but it doesnt really have the same pull anymore and hasnt for a while.

It's still a tether to some good times and good people for me. I'd be sad to see it go.

Just watched the last episode of Bluey. Whew, that got me good.

What a great show.

Been watching Shogun on FX (think it's also on Disney+?) weekly since it started (final episode is next week) and it's been really, really good.

It's basically the end of the Sengoku/Warring States period (the leadup to the Tokugawa shogunate being established) with the serial numbers filed off (so if you know the basic history and you realize who is based on who and can get a general idea of where certain plot beats have to go) but it's been a blast to watch.

I am basically done with Chapter 9 in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Just finishing up World Intel at this point. Already met Cid, so I know once we get on board the Tiny Bronco, that'll end the chapter.

I really enjoyed all the stuff at the Gongaga Reactor. Tifa getting her own mini Lifestream Dive was cool, and the conversation between her and Cloud afterwards was a really good scene (but I gotta admit, it was kinda weird seeing her without gloves on).

So it looks like we've got two sets of Whispers fighting each other now? One controlled by the Weapons and one controlled by Sephiroth? At least Tifa saw Sephiroth, too, this time, so that's something. She claimed that the Planet's Whispers were winning the fight when Aerith asked her, but I'm not so sure!

It was cool to see Cissnei again, even if the game doesn't really delve into who she is. I liked the scene with Cloud, Aerith, and Zack's parents, too. I guess Tifa and Aerith were waiting for the opportunity to see if Cloud remembered Zack, but no such luck.

Finished Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide. The story was kinda weak, but boss fights were amazing and spectacular. And honestly, it added a new arena mode that puts Chadley's simulator to shame. This is actually way more fun. The new Eikon abilities are super fun too.

Yeah, I'll need to knock out the FFXVI DLCs once I finish Rebirth.
